PERSONS WANTED.

♦ Newton. —17th May last, on warrant for manslaughter, William Sinclair, age about sixteen, height 5 ft. 5 in., electrical engineer, native of New Zealand, strong build, greasy sallow complexion, thick dark-brown hair, grey eyes, front teeth overlapping and decayed, heavy eyebrows and features; dressed in a dark-brown suit with short trousers (no hat); surly expression; slovenly gait. Accused, by negligently driving a motor-car in Karangahape Road, killed Kate Doweling. He may have gone to Australia.

Auckland. 27th April last, for false pretences, R. De Laney (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair; dressed in a grey or brown suit. Accused obtained medicine, value 3s. 6d., and £4 16s. 6d. cash from Owen Silvanus Wiles, chemist, Broadway, Newmarket, by means of a valueless cheque for £5 on the Bank of New South Wales, Whangarei, drawn by Harold Bailey, in favour of R. De Laney. He may be identical with Victor James De Laney, alias James Roberts, &c., referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, page 167, and Photographs, 1923, page 58, who has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. No warrant.

Auckland. —lßth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance Order for the support of his child, John Griffin, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, curly black hair, grey eyes, scar on back of right hand and thumb. Taihape. 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Amelia Hodgkinson, West Loughton, England, Harry Hodgkinson, age about forty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., carter and labourer, native of England, stout build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in a blue suit and soft hat; fond of drink and horse-racing. New .Plymouth. —24th April last, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Jack Eric Morrow, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 01 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, scar on right leg. Wanganui. lsth and 17th May last, on warrant for false pretences, Philip Scown, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., farmer and racehorse-owner, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair; dressed in a dark suit and soft-felt hat. Accused, who had nominated a horse —“ Tokomono ” races run at Wanganui on above dates, tendered to the secretary, Wanganui Jockey Club, two cheques for £lO and £2O in payment for fees, receiving £9 12s. change. Feilding. — sth May last, on warrant for false pretences, Thomas James Campbell, alias Irwin Campbell, alias Ronald Campbell, alias Alexander Campbell Anderson, alias J. Eanger, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, hair turning grey, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue sac suit. Accused obtained £3 from Charles Simpson, caretaker, Feilding Racecourse, by falsely representing that he was a farmer from Wellsford and a relative of complainant’s son-in-law, Mr. Legg, of that district. Between 9th and 14th May last, for false pretences, Alexander MeCampbell, alias George James Williams, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes, large mouth, full face, clean - shaved; dressed in a navy-blue suit, tan boots, brown-felt hat, and grey-tweed overcoat; rolling gait. Accused obtained £33 (in sums of £3, £lO, and £2O) from Blanche Cooke (whom he had engaged as housekeeper), 318 Church Street, by falsely representing that he was going to buy cattle at Foxton for his farm and required the money to pay for trucking them. Martinborough.— 26th ultimo, that a summons for failing to maintain Eileen McAnally, an inmate of St. Joseph’s Orphanage, Upper Hutt, may be served upon him, Charles McAnally, alias Bradley, age forty-seven height 5 ft. 10 J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair,-blue eyes, blind in left eye, heart and two dots on right forearm. Carterton. —10th May last, on warrant for theft of £1 10s., the property of William Coleman Ball, draper and clothier, High Street, Ernest Edward McFadgen, age about thirtyeight, height 5 ft. 9 in., draper, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, heavy moustache, long face and neck; usually carries a walkingstick ; fond of drink. Accused obtained £1 10s. from Mrs. Camilla Petersen Stubbs, and failed to account for it to his employer. Accused obtained a raincoat, a felt hat, and a kit-bag, total value £8 10s., from William Alfred Brown, manager, Hat Box Mercery Company, Manners Street, by falsely representing that he was an employer of labour at Martinborough and had an account at the Bank-of New Zealand. .
