INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Sussex (England).— December last, on warrant foi the murder at 25 Adelaide Crescent, Hove, of his wife, Isobel Margery Bailey, Norman Pereival Bailey, alias Major Bailey, alias Hugh H. Bentley, age thirty, height 6 ft., native of England, medium build, pale complexion, brown hair, bluegrey eyes, small military moustache, two porcelain-crowned teeth (believed centre), one gold-crowned upper tooth (believed right side), slight shrapnel-wound on one of the shoulder deltoid muscles, mole between shoulder-blades, double or thickened nail on right forefinger; dressed in a blue suit, dark overcoat, and bowler hat; upright swinging gait, but somewhat sprawl-footed; clothing may be marked as follows—“ 11” in blue cotton on underclothing, “J. Miller and Sons, Ltd., Ladies’ and Gents’ Tailors, Hanley, Jennings of Burslem ”on coat; “■ G. A. Dunn and Co., Ltd., Oxford Street, • Strand, and 429 Strand, London,” on overcoat; “ Sidney A. Thompson, Bournemouth,” -on shirts; “ N.P.8.” may be on coat, collars, and handkerchiefs ; trouser-buttons may have been replaced by “ Cosmos Batchelor Buttons.” He had in his possession a ladies’ 12 ct. gold keyless Swiss watch with gilt dial, engraved back, and crystal flat glass, “ No. 8375 ” inside back case, “ 91918 ” and “ 18087 ” may also be on case ; and a 9 ct. gold large twisted-link albert, with Masonic pendant attached. He is an ex-officer of the machine-gun corps and has a -45 Colt Service revolver. His photograph and a specimen of his handwriting are filed in the Commissioner’s office, Wellington. A reward of £IOO, or such part of it as may seem fitting to the Chief Constable of Hove, will be paid to the first person (other than a police officer) giving information leading to the arrest of Bailey. If located, an urgent communication is to be sent to the Commissioner of Police. Wellington. (C.R. 24/100.)
