INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Sydney (New South Wales). —On two warrants for forging at Sydney, on the 27th ultimo and the sth instant, the signatures “ W. Lister ” and “ W. 0. C. Bligh ” to cheques for £215 and £147 respectively, Clive Napier Curling, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., thin build, fair complexion, fair wavy hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved; dressed in blueserge trousers, grey coat and vest, and grey-felt hat; smart appearance. He was arrested for the offences and bailed, but failed to appear on 7th instant at the Central Police Court, Sydney. He is a clever forger, and his system is to select the signature of a person with whom he has done business, forge it to an order for a cheque-book, and request in the same order a statement of the account of the person whose signature he forged. After obtaining these from the bank he forges a cheque for about half the amount to the person’s credit and utters it to the bank. If located, an urgent communication is to be sent to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington. (P. 24/235.)
Brisbane (Queensland). —19th September last, on warrant for rape on Minnie Bubke, Coringa, Alexander Goodall Campbell, age about nineteen, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, tanned complexion and hands, brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue-serge or brown suit and brown-felt hat; pleasant expression; a good horseman; talkative ; erect gait. He has an uncle named Goodall (a sawmiller) in-New Zealand, with whom he may be found. His photograph is filed in the Commissioner’s Office, Wellington. His arrest is desired.
