PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. 2nd December last, for attempted theft from the person, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., strong build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, largo nose, full round face ; dressed in a pepper-and-salt-coloured suit and grey cap with large peak. Whilst leaving the ferry-boat at the wharf accused attempted to steal from the coat-pocket of Stanley Gordon Hill. No warrant.

Auckland. 3lst ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Emma Rangi Green, 12 Beresford Street, Victor James Clarence Green, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, small nose, clean-shaved, small scar on one hand. Arrears to 24th ultimo, £36.

Auckland. —lst ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Roy Gault, age about thirty-two, height 6 ft. 1 in., painter, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair; well dressed in a brown suit and grey cap. Accused obtained £3 from Robert George Robertson, tobacconist, 143 Ponsonby Road, by falsely representing that his sister had died and he required the money to defray the burial expenses. He is supposed to have gone to Sydney (Australia).

Waiiii.— ultimo, on warrant for using obscene language, Arthur Dempsey, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 64 in., miner and bushman, native of Australia, strong build, fresh complexion, curly brown hair, brown eyes, scar on left thigh ; usually dressed in a black suit ; fond of drink and quarrelsome. Cambridge. —23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for assault, Frederick Carl Petersen, alias Charles Peters, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 54 in., painter, native of Denmark, medium build, dark florid complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, one eye recently injured and may have a shade over it; dressed in a blue-serge suit and grey cap, and wears tennis-shoes at work ; turns right foot outwards when walking. Stratford. 26th December last, that a summons for assault may be served upon him, Gordon Rodgers, age twentythree, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar on upper lip. (See Police Gazette, 1923, page 209.)

Kimbolton. — ultimo, on warrant for theft of a grey Stetson hat, size 6f, and a striped shirt, total value £1 195., the property of Thomas Joseph Wilson, motor-driver, Apiti, Leonard Ross, alias A. Ross, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., motor-driver, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, full round face, clean-shaved; dressed in a blue suit. Accused, who occupied the same cottage as complainant, stole the' articles and disappeared.

Wellington. — instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Athenic,” Henry Porter, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 3 in., fireman, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes.

Wellington.7th instant; for failing to comply with the conditions of his release from prison on probationary license, Henry Sinclair McKay, alias Henry St. Clair McKay, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8.1 in., coppersmith, native of Scotland, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, “ H.M.” heart and cross on left forearm, tattoo-mark on'back of right hand, brown spot in right eye. Wellington.lst instant, on warrant for theft of £lO, the property of Ada Madson, boardinghouse-keeper, 89 Thorndon Quay, Samuel Paul, age thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and barman, slight build, dark complexion, dark hair, large brown eyes, some artificial upper front teeth, snake round woman and other tattooing on forearms ; shabbily dressed in a light-grey suit, cap, and tan boots. Accused, who was left for a week in charge of the boardinghouse during complainant’s absence, collected £lO from the boarders and disappeared. There are other charges pending.

Wellington.4th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife . and child, Ralph Forbes, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., hawker and tinsmith, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, dark - brown hair, hazel eyes; talkative. His photograph is filed in the Inspector’s Office, Wellington. Arrears to 24th September last, £l2 10s. (See Police Gazette, 1923, page 285 0 S' £/j .

Blenheim. —2sth October last, that he may be compelled to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Alexander Herd, alias Eek Herd, age about forty-eight, height about 5 ft. 4 in., horsetrainer and station hand, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, brown long moustache, left thumb has been injured; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit and soft-felt hat. Christchurch. — lst instant, on warrant for his arrest and detention in Roto Roa Inebriates Home, Victor Marcantelli, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., bootmaker, native of Australia, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, large nose and mouth ; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit and black-felt hat. Dunedin.— Aston, alias John Lee Ashton, alias John Ambrose Clarke, breaking,' entering, and theft from the dwelling of Maria Wood : It has been ascertained that the following articles were also stolen : A cigarette-case, engraved “ O.E.S.W.
