He may be in Sydney. Arrears computed to 16th March last.

Pukekohe. —9th January last, on warrant for false pretences, H. Macknelly, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., printer and salesman, stout build, sallow complexion, fair hair, full round face ; dressed in a grey suit and soft-felt hat. Accused obtained £2 10s. from Reginald Davies, draper, Pukekohe, by falsely representing that he was having printed a cover for the New Zealand School Journal and would insert complainant’s advertisement therein. Katikati. —Between the 14th February and the Ist March last, for breaking and entering the dwelling of Edwin Walker, farmer, Tuapero, and stealing therefrom preserved bananas, value Bs., J. H. Abbott, age about forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, thin build, dark florid complexion, dark hair turning grey, discoloured broken teeth, clean-shaved, hard features, round stooped shoulders, one hand injured ; shabbily dressed. Accused was employed by the Public Works Department on the Waihi-Katikati Railway when, the offence was commilled. Wellington. —loth instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probationary license, George Hunter, alias Menshiniskoff, alias Smith, alias Murphy, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 74 in., bootmaker, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, dilated nostrils, right little finger contracted, scar on inside of left thigh. Westport. —2nd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Annie May Williams, and child, Athol Gothard Williams, age thirty-two, height oft. Bin.,, fireman and linotypist, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, curly black hair, grey eyes, gold-filled upper teeth, lump on back of head, disfigured finger-nails, turns mouth to one side when speaking ; dressed in a black suit, black- or cream-velour hat, and tan boots ; quick gait; smart appearance. for San Francisco on the 23rd May last.

Christchurch. —On or about the 6th instant, on warrant for forgery, R. Hales (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, fair hair and complexion ; dressed in a light-grey suit, white scarf, light-felt hat, and fawn rainproof overcoat. Accused forged the signature “ D. G. Greenwood ” to a cheque for £2, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, and uttered it to Herbert Michel, tobacconist, 169 High Street. He may be in possession of a cheque-book on the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, Nos. 564721 to 564780, which he is suspected of having stolen from E. Langford, builder. New Brighton.
