PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —25th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Sophia Sherman, 25 Baker Street, Freeman’s Bay, is the mother, Henry Gilbert Richard Maney, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., engine-driver, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair freckled complexion, auburn hair brushed back, blue eyes ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit. Arrears to 30th June last, £2O 12s. fid. (See Police Gazette, 1921, page 583.) . \

Auckland. — 18th ultimo, for escaping from Avondale Mental Hospital, Harry Giles, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, medium build, fair complexion, hair, and moustache ; dressed in a moleskin suit and check shirt, marked “ M. 4.”

Auckland. —24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his child, George Simpson Hyde, age twenty-four, height 6 ft., carter and blacksmith’s forger, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, woman’s face and other tattooing on hands. Complainant, Miriam Atkinson, 23 Herne Bay Road, Ponsonby.

Auckland. —17th May last, on warrant for theft of a portmanteau and contents (recovered), value £44 Is. 6d., the property of John Driscoll, labourer, David McArthur Todd, alias David Beetson, age about forty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., carpenter, native of 'New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black brown thin face, clean-shaved, slightly stooped, woman’s bust on right forearm, pierced heart on left f orearraf indistinct anchor on back of left wrist. He was discharged from prison at Melbourne (Victoria) on the Bth March-last after having served a sentence of three months for theft. If located in Australia, his arrest is desired. New Plymouth. 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Ivy Baker, 303 Molesworth Street, Arthur Clifford Baker, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 2 in., labourer and carpenter, native of England, medium build, dark complexion and eyes, black hair, dove on right forearm, two large upper front teeth slightly crossed. Arrears to Ist ultimo, £27.

Taihape. 3oth ultimo, that he may be compelled to maintain his two children, Thomas Henry Tidd, age about fifty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., wood-cutter, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion. Napier. —lst instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Ida Winifred Berry, and two children, Russell Charles Berry, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 3 in., plumber and factory hand, native of New Zealand, thin build, long fair hair brushed back, hazel eyes, heavy eyebrows, large hooked nose, large ears, white spot; on left ear, butterfly on left arm ; has the appearance of being a heavy drinker. fr/ n /)/ _

Wanganui.—lst instant, that he may be interviewed regarding a revolver which he took from the Provincial Hotel and which is probably in his possession unregistered, William Andrews, age about thirty-four, height about 5 ft. 4 in., jockey and barman, native of New Zealand, fair ruddy complexion, fair hair, clean-shaved ; usually well dressed in a blue-serge suit, and wears a gold watch-chain; walks with a slight limp.^

Palmerston North.— ultimo, on ' warrant for theft of £2 155., the property of Charles A. Peters, motor-garage proprietor, J. Grain, age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 10 in., motor salesman, native of South Africa, medium build, dark sallow complexion, light-brown hair brushed back, clean-shaved, projecting ears ; dressed in blue trousers and grey sport’s coat (does not wear a hat) ; well educated. Accused received the amount from James Lorimer on terms requiring him to account for the same to his employer, but he fraudently omitted to do so. '' /'/f jni

Palmerston North.—Bth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and two children, Claude Milne, age about twenty-three, height 6 ft., labourer and lorry-driver, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark hair and complexion, dark heavy eyebrows, clean-shaved, long features, scar on face ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit; erect gait; restless when conversing. Arrears to 24th April last, £7 11s. 6d.

Woohville. —26th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Kenneth Raymond Thomson, alias Thompson, age about thirty, height J 3. ft., strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, .^leap-shaved; dressed in a lightgrey suit and black hard hat/ which he .wears well down on back of head. Accused obtained £3 from, Augustus Francis Foot, manager, Bank of New 1 Zealand, by means of a valueless cheque for £3, No. K 74417, on the National Bank of New Zealand, Wellington. .(See Police Gazette?- 1921, page 277, and , following paragraph.)

Wellington.—24th June .last, on,/ warrant for false pretences, Kenneth Raymond Thompson, alias Thomson (referred to in preceding paragraph). // Accused obtained £3 from George Gilmour, grocer* 271 Willis Street, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. Lower Hutt. —4th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Timaru Prison for. one month in default of paying £5 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Helen Muriel Cunnard, Francis Cheviot Cunnard, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 5f in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-tweed suit and light-brown-felt hat. Wellington.— William George Foster, failing to maintain : It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that accused, under the name of Victor Albert Rutherford, left for Sydney by the s.s “ Ulimaroa ” on the 21st ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1922, page 476.) .

Christchurch. —sth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £6 2s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Evelyn Ethel Scott, New Brighton, Douglas Scott, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., traveller, native of New Zealand, good build, fresh complexion, dark hair, dark-brown eyes, short quick gait. Christchurch. —Ist instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, John Svvanston, age thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter, native of Scotland, slight build, ruddy complexion, dark hair going bald, hazel eyes, high cheek-bones ; usually dressed in a dark-grey suit and grey-felt hat. Arrears to 4th June last, £l6 10s. His photograph is filed in the Inspector’s Office, Christchurch.

Ashburton.l3th May last, that a summons for trespass on Ashburton Racecourse may be served upon him, William Robert Townes, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and cook, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, scar on left elbow. Pembroke.—lst March last, that a summons for failing to register a - 303 Enfield rifle, No. 3253, may be served upon him, James Ash win Collins, alias Sinclair, age about twentyfour, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, long pointed nose ; usually dressed in a dark suit .and black-felt hat. He may also be in possession of an/unregistered -calibre rifle.

Invercargill.—l4th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Georgina Jones, Woodend, and child, Edward Jones, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman, native of England, strong build, sallow complexion, darkbrown hair, blue eyes, broad shoulders and features.
