PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —12th. ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Margaret Hickey, Settlement Road, Papakura, and five children, Donatus Hickey, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, fresh complexion, black hair, brown eyes, dark-brown moustache ; dressed in a black suit and soft-felt hat; ungainly gait fond of drink; speaks Maori language y j 9-fo/y /

Auckland. — Percy Albert Harrison, wanted on provisional warrant for false pretences. The following amended description, &c., have been supplied by the Melbourne police : Age thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., thin build, narrow chest, medium to fair complexion, brownish hair, clean-shaved, gold-filled teeth in upper jaw ; consumptive appearance ; wears a rolled-gold hunting watch, No. 5686684, and a fine gold curb watchchain ; has several suits, some probably having the name

“ Howard, Tailor, Little Collins Street, Melbourne,” on tabs ; others may be an Adelaide tailor. Accused was arrested and bailed to appear on the 16th instant at the City Court, Melbourne, but failed to do so. He is supposed to have come to this Dominion. Bernard, alias Bernard Bagley, breach of Bankruptcy Act : A fresh warrant has been issued charging him that, being a person adjudged bankrupt, he did within t* twelve months before the presentation of the bankruptcy petition quit New Zealand and took with him part of his '^~ OL *** property to the amount of £2O or upwards that ought by law to be divided among his creditors. He may be accompanied by Lilly Haines, age twenty-one, height. 5 ft. 3 in., stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair cut short ; dressed in a navy-blue braided dress and round henna hat. Auckland.7th May last, on warrant for assault, Warran Oliver, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., racecourse guesser and pugilist, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, black hair, dark-brown eyes ; usually flashily dressed in a blue suit, grey-felt hat, and tan boots speaks quietly. Accused, who was being driven with others along Remuera Road by George Goodman, taxi-proprietor, requested the driver to stop and pick up a, friend. This was refused, and accused then assaulted Goodman, damaging his teeth. Auckland. —18th ultimo, on warrant for attempted buggery, Benjamin Bronkhorst, alias Bronkhurst, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 4f in., traveller, native of England,,fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, long nose with scar on it. Auckland. — 12th ultimo, on warrant for theft of an engagement-ring (recovered), value £lO, the property of Eliza Dawson, confectioner, 230 New North Road, Kingsland, Richard Collins, alias Richard David Stewart Cochran, alias David Cochrane, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. in., cook, steward, and porter, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on left eyebrow, freckled arms ; usually dressed in a coffee-coloured suit and green-felt hat; slightly stooped. Accused stole the ring from a bedroom at 48 Wellesley Street and pawned it for 15s. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 339, and Photographs, page 40.)

Auckland. —Ist May last, on warrant for theft of an overcoat (recovered), value £3 10s., the property of Daniel Eoley, foreman, 9 Osborne Street, Newmarket, H. Brett (name probably fictitious), age about twenty -eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, medium build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved; respectable appearance. Accused stole the coat from a tool-shed in Little Queen Street and sold it in a second-hand shop for 3s.

Auckland. — Frank A. MacDonald, false pretences: It has been ascertained by the Sydney police that accused is now employed at the Sydney “ Morning Herald ” printingoffice, Sydney. (See Police Gazette, 1922, page 189.)

Onehunga. —7th February last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £2 10s. balance of fine and costs for indecent language, Harry Colling Warrington, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, left leg shorter than right, scar on nose. Hamilton. —sth ultimo,/on warrant for theft of an overcoat and a black Stetson hat, value £3 155., the property of James McLean and another, Patrick O’Brien, age about thirtyfive, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, curly dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; dressed in a dark suit and black-felt hat ; foreign appearance. Hamilton. — March last, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for two months in default of paying £2l fine and costs for trespass on Hamilton Racecourse, George Grant, alias Jack Gray, alias William Ryan, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6J in., clerk, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, brown eye/. Gisborne. 3oth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Robert Edward Roy Lewis, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., bricklayer, native of New Zealand, slight build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a blue or brown suit and black-velour hat ; frequents race meetings. Arrears to 27th February last, £ll ss.

. Gisborne. 2lst May last, that two summonses for breaches of his prohibition order may be served upon him, Robert Merritt, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Australia, dark complexion, clean-shaved ; erect gait ; fond of drink.

Taumarunut. —22nd April last, that he may be informed that failure to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation will result in his arrest, John Edward Calvert, alias John Edmund Calvert, age nineteen, height 5 ft.- 7 in., labourer and engineer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, lightbrown hair, brown eyes. He is at present Australia, but is returning to this next month.-

Christchurch. —7th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £5 11s., the property of John Fitzpatrick, labourer, Stoneyhurst, George Hobbs, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 5 in., cook and seaman, thin build, sallow complexion, hair turning grey ; dressed in a dark suit and felt hat or cap ; states that he has been a sea captain. Accused, who was employed as cook by Sir George Clifford, was given the cheque to pay an account. He cashed the cheque and converted the money to his own use. There are other charges /pending. He may be accompanied by a woman.^yy^/G

Blenheim. —16th February last, on warrant of commitment to Picton Prison for three days in default of paying 10s. costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Timothy O’Sullivan, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; scar on abdomen, on right shoulder, on left leg, and on right side ; usually slovenly dressed in a dark-tweed suit. (See Police Gazette, 1922, .page 143, and Photographs, 1919, page 44.) Seddon. —14th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, A. P. Watson, age about forty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium ’build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes ; dressed in a dark suit, brown leggings, and cap ; raises his eyebrows when talking. Accused obtained £6 from Henry George Daikee, builder, Blenheim, by falsely representing that a horse he sold to complainant was his property, whereas he had previously sold it to A. P. Satherley. He may be identical with Alfred Ernest Smith, alias Arthur Watson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, pages 327 and 360.

Rangiora.— J. Brown, alias Westcrop, theft: It lias been ascertained by the Rangiora police that accused is identical with Douglas Westrupp, referred in Police Gazette, 1922, pages 143 and 404. (See Police Gazette, 1922, page 384.)

Christchurch.—Between the 10th and 18th May last, on warrant for theft of £ls, the property of James Francis Rhodes, artist, 67 Gloucester Street, Charles Hamilton Romer, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., baker, native of England, florid complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. Accused, who was employed by complainant to sell art-union tickets, disposed of £ls worth and disappeared with the rqoney. (See Police Gazette, 1922, 283, and Photographs, page .54.)^
