Circular No. 4/22.] Expenses incurred by Police in connection with Inquiries for
the Public Trust Office.
Whenever any expense is incurred in.connection with any estate in the hands of the Public Trustee the amount thereof should be claimed from that office,. and not be included in Police vouchers.

Scale of Pay.
In accordance with the provisions of the Public Expenditure Adjustment Act, 1921-22, the following reduced scale of pay will take effect from Ist January, 1922. Increments to all members of the Force will be calculated from the date of appointment to the respective ranks. Superintendents : To commence at £525 and advance to £585 by annual increments of £lO. Inspectors : To commence at £450 and advance to £505 by three annual increments of £lO, then one of £5, and two of £lO. Sub-Inspectors : To commence at £4lO and advance” to £430 by annual increments of £lO. Senior Sergeants and Senior Detectives : To commence at 19s. Bd. per diem and advance to 20s. Bd. per diem by increments of 6d. per diem every two years. Sergeants and Detective-Sergeants: To commence at 17s. Bd. per diem and advance to 18s. Bd. per diem by increments of 6d. per diem every two years. Constables and Detectives : 161 s . On appointment and under three years’ service 14 0 Over three years and under six years’ service 14 6 Over six years and under nine years’ service .. 15 0 Over nine years and under fourteen years’ service .. .. .. .. .. 15 6 Over fourteen years and under twenty years’ service .. .. .. .. 16 0 Over twenty years’ service.. .. .. 16 6 Matrons : To commence at £146 per annum and advance to £177 per annum by two increments of £l2 and one of £7 at intervals of three years. Sale of Unclaimed Property.
Police Department, Wellington, 25th January, 1922. It is hereby notified that unclaimed property in the hands of the police at the various police-stations will, if not claimed before Tuesday, the 28th February, 1922, be sold thereafter by public auction. Particulars as to the time and place of sale may be obtained from the Superintendent or Inspector of Police in charge of the district.
