Whangarei. 7th instant, that steps may be taken to compel her to register in accordance with the provisions of the Registration of Aliens Act, 1917, Johanna Sontheim, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 5 in., domestic, native of Australia, stout build, fair hair and complexion, full round face.

Auckland. —sth instant, on warrant for theft of a fountain pen (recovered), value £2 55., identifiable, the property of Thomas James Carr, carpenter, 23 Upper Vincent Street, Richard Smithers, age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and mill hand, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, small eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark or navy-blue suit, darkfelt hat, and dark-brown tan boots with pointed toes ; smiling expression. The coat was stolen from the porch of the Latter Day Saints Church, Upper Queen Street, and sold to Emanuel Kissin, pawnbroker, for £l.

Wanganui. —lst instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation, Frank Pelling Rickards, alias Frank Richards, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6J- in., labourer and stable hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, scar on right side of abdomen ; dressed in a navy-blue-serge suit, tan shoes, and cream-felt hat; good appearance ; erect gait; quiet manner ; fond of drink. Wanganui.— 22nd September last, warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Evaline Williamson Pearson, Trafalgar Place, is the mother, James Carley, age twenty height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes ; usually dressed in a navy-blue' suit and black-felt hat. Woodville. 7th instant, on warrant for unlawfully using a horse, the property of Charles Rewi Duff us Milne, farmer, Mangarawa, James Kelso, age about thirty-four, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, ruddy complexion, small reddish moustache, full face ; dressed in a dark-brown suit and soft ■ felt hat; fond of drink. Accused took the horse from Woodville Racecourse and abandoned it near Kimbolton. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 768.)

Palmerston North. — 10th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, David Quinn, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 3J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair and moustache, blue eyes, scar on upper lip and on left cheek; dressed in a brown suit and light-felt hat; slovenly appearance ; fond of drink. Accused obtained fruit, value 45., and £1 16s. cash, from Jane Shearer, fruiterer, 176 Church Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £2, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Taumarunui, and signed “D. Dunedin. — On or about the Ist July last, on warrant for carnal knowledge of Ruth Muriel Reeves (born 16th September, 1906), William Jackson, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., seaman, medium build, fair clear complexion, dark hair, good teeth ; dressed in a brown suit and soft-felt hat; erect gait. He left Dunedin for Hobart on the Bth July last by the ship “ Thuraka,” of which he was a member of the crew.
