Newton. —12th August last, from off a tram-car between Auckland and Grey Lynn, the property of REUBEN MULLER, 46 Surrey Street, a black-tweed Auckland City Council Tramway regulation overcoat, with red piping around collar (no lining), “ No. 156 ” painted on inside ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Newton. —26th ultimo, from Upper Queen Street, the property of ALBERT CHILTON, 3 Cromwell Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, leather grips with tortoise-shell band on each, Dunlop tires, mudguard on back wheel split; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Auckland. —On or about the 15th ultimo CHARLES ROY McLAREN’S shop at 100 a Franklin Road was broken into, and a gentlemen’s gold-filled open-face watch with white dial with “ D. Silk ” on it, “ McLaren, 3345 ” scratched on inaide of back case, value £3 10s. (identifiable), stolen therefrom.

Between the 12th and 21st July last, from Buchanan’s stable in Onslow Road, the property of ALEXANDER WYLIE, showman, a Mexican saddle and a bridle (recovered), a two-plaited leather Mexican bridle, two pairs of Mexican spurs, two white cotton lassoes, a carved-leather holster, a pair of snake-skin gauntlets, a yellow-felt saddlecloth, two broad-rimmed Mexican hats, a pair of black-serge trousers, a pair of tan boots (size 7), a mirror, a white-handled Kropp razor, a shaving-brush, a black-backed hair-brush, and a comb ; total value, £65 14s. Auckland. —On or about the 28th August last, a boathouse at Judge’s Bay, the property of HAROLD PARTRIDGE, 4 Crescent Road, was broken into, and the following tools, &c., stolen therefrom : A handbag, a blow-lamp, a chisel, and a spanner (recovered)/ a claw-hammer with “ V ” on it, six assorted bits with “ V ” on each, and a hack-saw; total value, £3 13s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to C. Hard (name probably fictitious), age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., carpenter,- native of New Zealand, medium build, swarthy Complexion, brown hair, ‘grey eyes, nose slightly upturned, prominent lower jaw ; dressed in a greyish-brown shabby suit. Auckland. —Between the 9th and 11th July last, WALTER SCOTT’S store at 43 St. Benedict Street was broken into, and a white stone jam-jar, about 6 in. high, with a screw top, containing £4 10s., and a blank cheque form, No. 911651, on the Bank of New Zealand, Symonds Street, stolen therefrom.

Auckland.— 23rd July last, from THOMAS VALLANCE’S dwelling at Papatoetoe, six £1 notes. Suspicion is attached to John Morgan, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, darkbrown hair, brown eyes, birth-mark on left upper arm. Te Karaka. —24th July last, from a meeting-house at Takipu, the property of HINE RURU, a ladies’ dark-brown opossum-fur overcoat, with brown-satin lining, black square fur collar, fur buttons, pockets have been repaired with yellow-silk thread ; value, £45. Identifiable.

Hastings. instant, from a stand at" the racecourse, the property of C. J. WILSON, motor expert, Wellington, a gentlemen’s dark heather-tweed heavy overcoat, originally leather-lined ; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Havelock North.—JOHN CAESAR CLAGUE’S billiardballs, &c., stolen : The suspect, Harold Harling Howell, alias Thomas H. Woodcock, has been interviewed by the Auckland police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1921, page 466.)
