INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Perth (Western Australia). —During the night of the 3rd instant the Government Geological Laboratory in Museum Street was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A petrological microscope, branded “ J. Swift & Son, London, G.5.W.A.,” and fittings for same contained in a cedar box 1 6 in. long, with brass handles ; a wooden funnel-stand ; two glass funnels ; a small glass- funnel, with long delivery ; two glass flasks, with rubber corks and glass tubing attached ; a large wash-bottle and fittings ; two glass beakers ; two dozen assorted porcelain small crucibles ; two glass beurettes, 25 c.c., with glass float, mercury in the bottom ; a box of gramme weights, from 50 grammes down ; an agate mortar and pestle ; a pair of platinum-tipped tongs ; _ a bottle of sulphuric acid ; a bottle of ammonia ; a bottle of nitric acid ; and a bottle of hydrochloric acid, each bottle permanently branded with name of contents^ property of Geological DepartmenL^(2f/1243^
