PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —l4th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife and child, William Francis Gallagher, age thirtythree, -height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and fisherman, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; suffers from shell-shock, winch effects him mentally at times. (See Police Gazette, 1921, page 2.)

Auckland. 2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, John Michael Wallace, alias Grogan, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. in., ship’s carpenter, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on left side of abdomen. Hamilton.— March last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Mary Anne Knight, Marama Street, Frankton Junction, Anthony George Knight, age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and bushman, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey and going bald; usually dressed in/a dark or brown suit and soft-felt hat. / / Te Awamutu.—7th ultimo, that two summonses for taking unlabelled liquor, &c., into a proclaimed area may be served upon him, James Temple, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair usually dressed in riding-breeches and puttees, grey coat and vest, and black-felt hat.

Matiere.— lst February last, that a summons for failing to maintain may be served upon him, Joseph Thomas, age about forty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., carter and labourer, medium build, ruddy complexion, dark-brown hair, brown moustache ; usually dressed in a dark suit.

Te Karaka. 3rd January last, that a summons for playing two-up at Whatatutu may be served upon him, James Smith, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and barman, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-grey-tweed suit and light -felt hat; talkative ; smart appearance.

Taumarunui. —3oth March last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Cecilia Margaret Hawkless, and children, John Henry Hawkless, age forty-five, height 6 ft. 3 in., labourer and sawmill hand, native of Australia, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, prominent nose, brown moustache ; dressed in brown trousers, blue coat, and blackfelt hat. Taiiiape. —l7th instant, that a summons for failing to maintain her child, Edna May . Ruddock, an inmate of Wanganui Receiving Home, may be served upon her, Rita May Ruddock, alias Porter, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., domestic, native of Australia, sallow complexion, dark hair, large dark eyes, long nose. She may be living with Alexander Porter, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., sawmill hand, slight build, curly brown hair, long face, dimple in chin, clean-shaved ; a cornet player.

Wanganui. —l6th instant, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Harry Louis Goble, labourer, 21 Heads Road, and stealing therefrom an overcoat, two suits, and a shirt (recovered), and a brown-tweed three-quarter-length overcoat with Raglan sleeves and cuffs, two bluestriped shirts with 14|in. collars, and £6 3s. 3d., total value £32 Bs. 3d., W. Logan (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, dark complexion, hair, and eyes ; dressed in a dark suit and dark soft-felt hat turned down in front, and wears gold pince-nez. Accused sold the recovered articles to second-hand dealers.

Wanganui.-21st instant, for escaping from Wanganui Prison, Robert Gilmour Allen, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 41 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, long fair hair brushed back, light-brown eyes ; dressed in a blue suit, black boots with patent-leather toe-caps, and prison underclothing. He broke out of prison whilst awaiting trial on two charges of breaking and entering and shooting with intent Jo evade arrest. (See Police Gazette, 1918, nagey2o3,Andyj?hotpgraphs, page 25.)

(See Police [Gazette-1921. uftge 240.) Wellington. —l3th instant, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Joseph Frank Dyer, 8 Park Street, and stealing therefrom a Gladstone bag, &c. (recovered), value £2l 65., Percy Devine, alias F. J. Dyson, age about twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 7 in., dark .hair and complexion, pointed nose ; well dressed in a dark suit and brown soft-felt hat. The property was recovered at second-hand shops, where it had been sold by the above-described man who gave the names mentioned.

Wellington. —3rd February last, that he may be interviewed regarding a blue-serge sac coat, the property of James A. Annear, which he may have in his possession, William Chapman, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., fair hair and complexion, clean-shaved ; dressed in a blueserge suit and black-felt hat. He may be identical with William Chapman, alias Wells, referred to in Police Gazette, 1920, page 3. CiX^

Wellington. —llth instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Tainui,” James Charles Lee, / ge twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., greaser, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair/blue eyes.

Wellington. —29th March last, that a summons for unlawfully landing in New Zealand may be served upon him, J. Teller, age twenty-one, trimmer, native of New Zealand. He has not taken the oath of allegiance to His Majesty.

Wellington.— Ist ultimo, that a summons for unlawfully landing in New Zealand may be served upon him, P. Franklin, age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., trimmer, native of England, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes. He has not taken the oath of allegiance to His Majesty.

Christchurch. — 'Julius Phillips, failing to maintain, left this Dominion as a seaman on the sis. “ Moana,” and deserted at San Francisco on the 13th November, 1919. (See Police Gazette, 1921, page 284.)

'l9th January last, that he may be warned that if he does not report to the Probation Officer, in. compliance with the conditions of his release upon probation he will be arrested, Erie Alexander Clark, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 11 in., chauffeur, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes. Christchurch. —Ist March last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for one month in default of paying £4O arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife and children, Robert Henry Edgeworth, age forty-three, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, sailor and flag on right arm, “ E.R.” and ship on left arm. / ' Christchurch. —12th instant, for theft of a cheque for £lO (recovered) and 10s. in cash, the property of Mrs. Vesey Hamilton, Naseby Street, Merivale, J. Heywood (name probably fictitious), age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 2 in., good build, sallow complexion ; dressed in a blue-serge costume. The cheque was stolen from complainant’s dwelling and cashed at the bank by a woman of above description. No warrant.

Lyttelton. —l4th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Matatua,” James Edward Euesden, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 81 in., fireman, native of England, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, left thumb missing, heart and horse-shoe on right forearm. Ashburton. 22nd ultimo, on warrant that he may be compelled to pay £52 2s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jean Scott, John Robert Scott, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, clean-shaved ; usually well dressed in a brown or grey suit and black soft-felt hat. Timaru. —26th ultimo, that he may be served with a copy of an order for the payment of £lB ss. 7d., restitution for money stolen, Gibson Todhunter Henderson, age forty, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer and blacksmith, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, clean-shaved, Britannia and lion on right forearm. Dunedin. —l3th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Janet Findlay Didham, 3 Tweed Street, Roslyn, William Henry Didham, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., plasterer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a blue suit and black soft-felt hat. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Dunedin. Arrears to 14th ultimo, £l3 Bs. 7d.
