Auckland. — ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Charlie Chaffey, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes ; smart appearance ; an ex police constable. He left Auckland by the s.s. “ Niagara ” on the 7th December last. Complainant, Lizzie Walker, waitress, 64 Albert Street.

Hawera. — Ist instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Winifred Elizabeth Neithe, 20 Victoria Street, is the mother, Jack H. Williams, age about twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., picture-manager, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes.

Eeilding. —4th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order, Benjamin Alexander Wallis, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., electrician, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, thick lips, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a dark-grey-felt hat. Masterton. —'Between the 31st ultimo and the 3rd instant, on warrant for theft of two pairs of boxing-gloves (recovered), a gentlemen’s light-fawn three-quarter raincoat, small hole burned in right pocket and a white cotton shirt, size 14, total value £lO 145., identifiable, the property of John Percival Toucher, wood contractor, Richard Smith, age about twentysix, height 5 ft. 6 in., carpenter and labourer, native of England, strong build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a fawn suit and tan boots ; Cockney accent; swaggering gait, and has a peculiar look; tidy appearance. He is supposed to have a wound in right thigh. Accused shared with complainant at Devonshire House a room, from where he stole the articles. Wellington. —-27th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days on each in default of paying £5 (£2 10s. on each) fines and costs for breaches of his prohibition order, William Richards, alias Tom Tucker, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft.- 5 in., labourer and seaman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, clasped hands over heart and “ True Love ” on right forearm, eight-pointed star and scar on right hand. Christchurch. On or about the 12th August last, on warrant for obtaining credit to the amount of £1,558 12s. by fraud, Alfred Jeynes, alias Donald Joyce, age about forty-four, height about 5 ft. 10 in., native of Australia or Scotland, strong build, florid complexion, reddish hair and moustache ; usually dresses well in different coloured suits, soft-felt hat which he wears to one side of head, and fawn overcoat. It is said that his correct name is Jeynes, and that he formerly lived at 103 Monmouth Street, Perth, Western Australia, and cams from Melbourne on a return permit in the name of Donald Joyce. He advertises in local papers, offering for ss. to instruct ladies how to dress their hair,: and usually gives as his address a post-office box. He was accompanied by his wife, age about thirty-five, short, large eyes, speaks quickly and dresses well, and three children, two girls, six years and three years respectively, and a boy five years. Accused, by falsely representing himself to be a wealthy man from Scotland and one of the firm of Joyce and Co., Steel-rolling Mills, Glasgow, and that he and his father were starting a similar, business in Christchurch, induced Edward Arthur Langford, builder, New Brighton, to build a house for £1,500. When the house was nearing completion he raised a mortgage of *ljif / ‘

i, Christchurch. 7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Jean Crawford, Rotherham, near Culver den, John Stafford Crawford, age fifty, height 5 ft. 8 in., butcher and shepherd, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, crooked nose, dark moustache, two women on chest and on each forearm.

Christchurch. —7th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Jessie Gilmore, and two children, inmates of Essex Street Maternity Home, Thomas Gilmore, age forty, height 6 ft., union secretary, native of England, slight build, fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved dressed in a dark suit and grey-felt hat.

; Christchurch.- -Bth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jessie May Forman, 16 Conference Street, Reginald George Forman, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, good teeth, scar on one wrist; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and black-felt hat. Arrears, £ls 14s. 6d., computed to the 11th ultimo.

Christchurch. 7th instant, on a Bench warrant to Paparua Prison for failing to surrender to his bail at the Supreme Court on above date to answer a charge of theft from the person, Arthur Thomas Hart, alias Lark, alias Arthur Thomas, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., jeweller , and hawker, native of Ireland, medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, small brown moustache, broad shoulders, left ring-finger has been broken and callus, left ear cauliflowered; usually dressed in a blue suit and brown-velour hat; plausible manner ; smart, active appearance. He will endeavour to leave this Dominion. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 750.)

Lyttelton.7th instant, on warrant for being absent from the s.s. “ Kinkon Maru ” without leave, Ya Suke Kakuda, age twenty, height 5 ft., fireman, native of Japan, strong build, copper complexion, black hair and eyes ; dressed in a light suit. He is not in possession of a passport.

Milton.— Bth instant, that he may be interviewed regarding his illegitimate child, John Hand, an inmate of Dunedin Juvenile Probation Home, George Joseph Holland, age about forty, height 5 ft. 6 in., hairdresser, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark long - hair brushed back; right shoulder higher than left shoulder, slightly hunchbacked, club foot, supposed to be wearing a diamond cluster ring. He was last heard of about two years and a half ago, when he is said to have had a hairdressing-saloon at 193 Hobson Street, Auckland. He may be accompanied by his wife, referred to in following „h. • Milton.—Bth instant, that she may be interviewed regarding the maintenance of her illegitimate child, John Hand, an inmate of Dunedin Probation Home, Agnes Holland (nee Hand), age twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 4 in., native of New Zealand, stout build, sallow complexion, dark hair and eyes.
