The Committee then called tenders, and let a contract for £BO 16s. The balance of the amount required, £l2 14s. 4Jd. was made up by the officers and men of the Force in the City of Wellington. . A nice monument has been erected. I have to thank those subscribers, officers and men, who, animated with proper esprit de corps, have done honour to themselves in perpetuating the memory of a comrade whose tragic death in execution of duty gained much honour and advantage for the whole of the Police Force. ; •J.
