Te Awamutu. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a metal keyless Boy-proof watch, a pair of brown-leather leggings, a pair of khaki riding-breeches, a brown oilskin coat with clasp fasteners, two pairs of gentlemen’s light boots (size 8), a pair of gentlemen’s heavy boots (size 8), a white-handled Bengal razor, and £1 2s. 6d., total value £ll 55., identifiable, the property of George Baker, labourer, Jack Angeve, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, medium build, fair ruddy complexion, sandy hair, blue eyes, tattooed on left forearm ; dressed in a grey coat and vest and the stolen riding-breeches and leggings; fond of drink. Accused stole the articles from a whare he was sharing with oomplainant.

Napieb.— 3lst May last, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for six months in default of paying £7 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Gretta McLean Seymour, Robert Seymour, age about twenty, height 5 ft. 6Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, heart and scroll on right forearm ; usually dressed in a dark suit, fawn overcoat, and light-grey-felt hat. Arrears computed to 19th July last.

Napier. — 23rd March last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his three children, inmates of Wellington Receiving Home, Patrick Preston Dee, age forty-two, height 5 ft, 4in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, scar on back and on right middle finger, right little finger crooked. Arrears to 23rd August last, £ll ss. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 414.)

Wanganui. 3rd instant, on warrant for theft of a gold watch (recovered), and a gold fetter-and-oval-link watch-chain (similar to illustration No. 27 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2), total value £35, the property of Percy Codling, Durie Vale, Walter Hunter, alias Joseph Wilson, alias Mare Hanita, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, Maori, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, boil-scars on legs, kangaroo on left forearm, wart near base of left thumb, left middle finger has been injured, two small scars on forehead. Accused obtained the articles from complainant as security for the balance of payment of clothing, and sold the watch for £B. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 24.)

Marton.— l6th ultimo, on warrant for theft of 8 lb. of meat (recovered), the property of the New Zealand Government (Railway Department), William Wade, age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., ccok and butcher, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair; dressed in a dark-grey-check suit; fond of drink. Accused was employed in the railway refreshment-rooms at Marton Junction when he committed the offence.

Marton. —Ist ultimo, on warrant for assault, Joseph Robertson, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. Accused and Frederick Courtney, referred to in following paragraph, committed the offence on Robert Watters, a racecourse detective, outside the Marton Racecourse. Accused and Joseph Robertson, referred to in preceding paragraph, committed the offence on Robert Watters, a racecourse detective, outside the Marton Racecourse. Palmerston North. —23rd ultimo, for failing to maintain his wife, William Joseph O’Dwyer, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 6Jin., dealer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, dark eyes, scar on left upper arm, right ring finger-nail has been injured; dressed in a dark suit, trench-coat, and grey soft-felt hat. Wellington. —6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £ll 16s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Ellen Gillham, William James Gillham, age thirty -one, height 5 ft. 6 in., barman and hotel porter, medium build, dark hair and complexion, grey eyes, cleanshaved ; usually dressed in a brown or grey suit and grey-felt hat ; Cockney accent.

Wellington. —2sth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 fine and costs for being on licensed premises during prohibited hours, William Armstrong Kerr, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and hawker, slight build, ruddy complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, thin features, mark on right cheek, prominent nose ; dressed in a brown suit.

Wellington. 7th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s ring (recovered), a ladies’ gold ring (set with five opals), a ladies’ gold ring (set with three amethysts surrounded by. diamond chips), and a 9ct. gold open-face wristlet watch, total value £Bl 165., the property of Isabel Philp, licensee Imperial Hotel, Cuba Street, Watson (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height 6 ft., strong build, dark hair and complexion, clean - shaved; dressed in a dark suit and soft-felt hat ; good appearance. Accused stole the articles from complainant’s bedroom and pledged the recovered ring at Smart’s pawnshop. . -

Wellington.— 2sth ultimo, Percy Kirkby, failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probationary license: His license has now been cancelled. Christchurch.— 3oth July last, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Thomas Henry Parks, age about twentyone, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and seaman, native of England, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, pierced heart and “ Tom ” on left forearm ; usually dressed in a brown suit and soft-felt hat. Complainant, Ivy Irene Hoxman, 72 Salisbury Street.

Akaroa. —On or about the 31st December last, on warrant for theft of £lB 12s. 6d., the property of the Akaroa County Council, William B. Cant, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., rabbit inspector, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair hair and complexion, grey eyes; usually dressed in riding-breeches, dark-grey coat and vest, and soft-felt hat; talkative, and boasts of his people’s wealth. Accused collected the amount as dog-tax and failed to account for it.

Ashburton.— llth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a blazer and a pair of roller-skates (recovered), total value £3 10s., the property of James George Andrews, motordealer, Ray Woodward, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark long hair parted in centre, grey eyes, cleanshaved ; dressed in a -grey suit and soft-felt hat; smart appearance. Complainant left the stolen articles at accused’s skating-rink, and were recovered from the railway goods-shed, where they had been forwarded by accused.

Dunedin.— 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Mary Ann Poulter, 8 Dick Street, George Poulter, age fifty-six, height 6 ft,, moulder, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, ginger moustache ; usually dressed in a dark suit and hardfelt hat. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Dunedin.

Orepuki. —l6th August last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Martha Agnew, Papatotara, and child, Thomas Russell Agnew, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 10 in., sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue-grey eyes, scar on right arm ; usually dressed in a brown suit, military short overcoat, and black soft-felt hat.

Invercargill. — 6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £l7 14s. Bd. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Jessie Mackay is the mother, Edward Egan, age twenty-seven, height sft. sin., carpenter, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, artificial upper teeth.
