Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). 23rd ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Jack Evans, age about twenty-two, height sft. Bin., steward, native of Canada, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair. He left the Dominion by the s.s. “Niagara” for Sydney on the 10th ultimo. Complainant, Eva Sutherland, 30 Randolph Street.
Auckland. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Phyllis Violet Dare, Horatio Henry Dare, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 2 in., carter, native of New Zealand, medium build, florid complexion, fair hair, brown eyes, gun-shot wound on right leg ; fond of raoing. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Auckland. Arrears to 2nd July last, £2 ss.
Auckland.— 2lst instant, that he may be compelled to pay £3B Bs. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, an inmate of Auckland Receiving Home,. Robert Cutts, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 5} in., labourer and miner, native of Australia, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, right hand has been injured. Arrears computed to the 20th ultimo. Auckland. l7th ultimo, on three warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for sixteen days in default of paying £5 Bs. fines and costs for drunkenness and two breaches of his prohibition order, Martin Johansen, alias George Martin, age forty-two, height sft. in., benchman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scars on each forefinger and on nose, two soars on left ring-finger, left little finger has been injured ; deformed back. Auckland. l4th instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 14s. fine and costs for a breach of her prohibition order, Margaret Creech, alias Margaret Beatrice McNeill, alias McNeil, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 2 in., prostitute, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes; horse-shoe, “Good Luck,” whip, “Minnie,” and “Ledger” on left forearm. Te Aroha. — F. W. Slater, false pretences: It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that accused is identical with Frederick Schluter, alias Frederick William Sluter, alias Frederick William Wells, referred to in Police Gazette , 1920, page 51. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 511, and Photographs, 1914, page, 23.)
Te Kuiti. —l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £lO 13s. costs for drunkenness, Harry Turner, age about thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, native of England, stout build, fair complexion, large nose; dressed in a dark-gray shabby suit and cap.
Te Kuiti.— instant, that he may be located and the ■Public Trustee notified of his address, Albert Edward Chapman, aged twenty-two, height 5 ft. 1 in., porter and jockey, native of New Zealand, slight build, brown hair, brown-grey eyes, full face. He was last heard of from the White Hart Hotel, Christchurch, about a year ago.
New Plymouth. instant, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 fine and costs for a breach of the peace, Rowland Tallis Eagar, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., stable hand and jockey, native of Australia, slight build, sallow complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, birth-mark on right forearm and on chest. Napier.—2oth June last, on warrant that he may be compelled to pay £45 3s. Gd. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of Mark Stewart, an inmate of an industrial school, Victor Mills Stewart, aged thirtythree, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, light-blue eyes, left thumb missing, warts on back of left hand, upper arms freckled, small scar on left knee. Arrears computed to 20th June last. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 684.)
Dannevibke. —20th instant, on warrant for forgery and uttering, J. Roberts, alias George Frederick Haig, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 7Jin., lr bourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on inside of left hand. Accused forged the name “Charles Tarbit Strother,” farmer, Tiratu, to a cheque for £l2 10s., and uttered it to the Wairarapa Farmers’ Cooperative Association (Limited).
Petone. — 3rd instant, for failing to maintain his wife, Agnes Thompson, 113 Nelson Street, and her three children, Frederick William Thompson, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., clerk, native of New , Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, brown hair and eyes ; dressed in a grey suit and a greenish-brown-felt hat. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Wellington.
Wellington.— 22nd instant, on warrant for indecent assault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 2 in., medium build, dark short hair, clean-shaved, lump above one knee, artificial teeth; dressed in a navy-blue suit, grey-felt hat with a black band on it, and a white-silk shirt. Accused committed the offence on Kathleen Mary Hume (ten years of age) in a plantation off Glasgow Road. His photograph has been identified as that of Reginald Matthews, referred to in Police Gazette, 1919, page 554.
Wellington. —l7th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child; of whom Emma Margaret Watson is the mother, Herbert Joseph Wood, age about twenty-three, height 6 ft., slight build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, “No. 32979 ” on inside of right forearm ; -erect gait.
Wellington. —9th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying 10s. balance of fine and costs for unlawfully using a motorbicycle, William Reginald Norman, alias Reginald William Norman, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 11 in., salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes, one gold-filled front tooth; goodlooking; smart appearance. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 520.).
Nelson.— l7th July last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Alice Mona McAlpine, South Street, and child, Duncan McAlpine, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and sawmill hand, native of Scotland, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, clean-shaved, small ears; usually dressed in a dark-twee'd suit and black-felt hat. Arrears to Bth July last, £4l 16s.
Christchurch.—23rd July last, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for three weeks in default of paying £l2 4s. 9d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Mary Martin, Robert Martin, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, grey eyes, fair moustache.
Christchurch.24th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value, £ls, the property of Herbert Thomas Olney, 19 Fyfe Street, S. Jones (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6in., medium build, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a brown suit and black-felt hat; smart appearance. Accused stole the bioyole from Huxley Street, and sold it to Newton and Millar, second-hand dealers, for £3 10s. He was paid by cheque, which he cashed at the City Hotel.
Dunedin. —15th May last, for false pretences, William Hall, age about forty-three, height about 5 ft. 6in., labourer and cook, stout build, ruddy complexion, red hair and moustache ; untidy appearance. Accused obtained 10s. worth of meat from Barton and Trengrove, butchers, Manse Street, by falsely representing that the meat was for Neil and Go., contractors, Waipori Road, Berwick. No warrant.
Dunedin. —20th instant, on warrant that she may be compelled to maintain her child, Harold Brown, an inmate of Gaversham Industrial School, Mrs. Rosa Vanora Brown, age about twenty-nine, height 5 ft. lin., waitress, thin build, fair hair. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 238.)
Dunedin. —21st instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Barbara Emrie Bossward, Castle Street, Arthur George Bossward, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 6$ in., cook and fireman, native of Tasmania, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes; Faith, Hope, and Charity on right forearm ; clasped hands, “ True Love ” over heart on left forearm ; five-pointed star on right wrist. Arrears to the 23rd ultimo, £lO9 3s. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 540.)
Dunedin.2oth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Elizabeth Campbell, 19 Mardale Street, and children, George Campbell, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and storeman, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, scar over right eye. Arrears to 21st July last, £9l 2s. 6d. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 524, and Photographs, 1919, page 17.)
Orepuki.—lßth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Annie Jane Morton, Tuatapere, and children, John Thomas Morton, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, blue-grey eyes, fair drooping moustache, thin features, right ring-finger and several upper teeth missing; dressed in a black suit and bowler hat; erect gait. He is believed to be in company with Gladys Boulter, age twenty, height 5 ft., a half-caste Maori, who is in an advanced state of pregnancy.
Invercargill.—2oth ultimo, on warrant that he may be compelled to pay £35 12s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his three children, James Mclvor, age about thirty, height sft. 7Jin., labourer and rabbiter, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, clean - shaved; usually dressed in a blue suit. Arrears computed to 12th ultimo.
