PROPERTY STOLEN.

Grey Lynn.—On or about the 17th January last, from ROBERT PRYTHERICK ROBERTS’S drapery-shop, a 20-yard bolt of tussore silk; value, £4 18s. Identification doubtful.

Auckland.— On the 28th ultimo the Runciman Post-office was broken into, and the following cheques and money, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), stolen therefrom : Pour cheques, eight war-pension advices, a miner’s pension certificate, and an old - age pension certificate (recovered); three cheques for £lO Is. 6d., forty-five £1 notes, and five 10s. notes. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., dark hair, strong gruff voice; wearing a dark heavy overcoat, black-felt hat, and a dark scarf. Arthur Charles Whitburn, letter-carrier, who was riding home after locking the post-office, was stopped by the suspect, who pointed a revolver at him, and demanded the keys of the post-office, which were handed to him. He then mounted the boy’s bicycle, and rode to the post-office and committed the offence.

Bth April last, from clothing in HENRY BRADY’S bedroom at 44 Nelson Street, a gentlemen’s gold hunting Elgin watch (recovered) ; a 9 ct. gold curb double watch-chain, with . two greenstone pendants (one with “ P.M.” on it) attached: total value, £24. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Charles Kere, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, Maori, strong build, copper complexion, black hair. Suspect pawned the watch with Moss Robinson for £1 ss.

Paekoa. —Between the 21st April and 17th ultimo, from a paddock at Rotokohu, the property of WILLIAM MEDHURST, Belmont Road, an aged bay mare, 14 hands, black points, broken knees ; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Thames. —9th ultimo, from a scutching-shed at Kerepeehi, the property of ARTHUR WALKER, flax-mill hand, a grey-check-tweed suit to fit a man about 5 ft. 7 in., halfbelt on coat, half-circular pockets and fob pocket, trousers turned up at bottoms, and may have “ Lange, Tailor, Thames,” on buttons ; value, £ll 10s. Identifiable.

Rotorua. —2Bth April last, from a bedroom at the Lake House Hotel, the property of F. O. V. ACHESON, Native Land Court, Wanganui, a brown double-breasted heavy overcoat, large brown buttons, high collar, deep lapels, Raglan shoulders, two inside and two outside pockets, small match-pocket on right side, vent in back, small strap on each cuff ; value, £ls 15s. Identifiable.

Dannevirke. —On or about the 3rd ultimo, from a motorbicycle in JAMES NEAGLE’S workshop, a motor-bicycle Bosch magneto ; value, £7. Identifiable.

Woodville. —On or about the 24th ultimo, from CHARLES ROBERTSON STEVENS’S shed in Masterton Road, nine white-canvas cow-covers, each with leather legstraps and spring hooks attached; total value, £9. Not identifiable.

Woodville. —On or about the 24th ultimo, |from TIMOTHY WREN’S shed in Ormond Road, a double strap draught horse-collar (outside buckle missing), a pair of hames, a bridle with nickel bit, and a green-canvas horsecover, branded “H. J. Whitelaw, saddler, Woodville,” which has been patched with white canvas; total value, £4 17s. 6d. Identifiable.

Woodville. —On or about the 24th ultimo, from BERNARD HOOPER’S shed in Ormond Road, a pair of blackleather gig-reins, a pair of plough back bands, a ratchetbrace and lin. bit, a smoothing-plane, a hammer, and a carbonized oil-stone ; total value, £3 6s. 6d. Identifiable.

Woodville. — On or about the 24th ultimo, from a horse on Woodlands Road, the property of WILLIAM GURRY, farmer, a grey - canvas horse - cover, with striped lining, branded “W. Loader, saddler, Woodville”; value, £2. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. l7th March last, from Coleman Place, the property of E. S. PEES, bicycle-dealer, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel 22 in. bicycle, with Nonpareil transfer on it, No. 8.8. 3069, upturned handles, rattrap pedals, steel rims and mud-guards, “No. 6” painted white on back one and under saddle ; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. — 11th ultimo, from Cuba Street, the property of M. HOLLAND, apprentice printer, a ladies’ black-enamelled free-wheel 24 in. B.S.A. bicycle, No. 7777, with P. Edge transfer on it, upturned handles, rubber pedals, back-pedalling brake, steel rims and mud-guards, Oceanic tires ; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. Street, the property of EILEEN WATTS, 64 Chelwood Street, a ladies’ 24 in. B.S.A. bicycle with Ideal Cycle Company transfer on it, No. 11615 Z, black-enamelled with red lines, upturned handles, steel rims and mud-guards, rubber pedals ; value, £9. Identifiable.

Carterton.— ultimo, from a cloak-room at the King’s Theatre, the property of HUBERT JOHN RATHBONE, joiner, a gentlemen’s greenish-fawn double-breasted trenchovercoat, with “ J. L. Murray ” on tab and “ H. J. Rathbone” stamped on front bottom corners on inside of back and on inside of left sleeve ; value, £7 7s. Identifiable.

Wellington.— ultimo, from a window-sill at the Returned Soldiers’ Club, the property of JOSEPH FRUISH, Park Road, Miramar, a ladies’ rolled-gold open-face keyless large Swiss watch, dial faded; and a ribbon watch-guard, with a 15 ct. gold shield in centre, and a leather half-sove-reign wallet attached : total value, £B. Between the 20th and 21st ultimo, from a passage at Winder’s Buildings in Cuba Street, the property of WILFRED JEPSON, signwriter, 19 Barker Street, a brown-leather Gladstone bag, containing a pair of snips, a box of pencils, two books of loose gold-paper, three books of transferred gold-paper, and several signwriting tools; total value, £5. Nelson. -30th March last, from a shed, the property of WILLIAM JOSEPH PENNEY, farmer, Atawhai, a ladies’ black-enamelled bicycle, new Brooks saddle with double springs, new tire on front wheel, red tire on back wheel; value, £lO. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Douglas Hector Shanks, age fifteen, height 5 ft. 4 in., farm hand, native of New Zealand, good build, pale complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, pigeon-toed. Dunedin.— On the 24th ultimo the dwelling of GEORGE McKNIGHT, engineer, 14 Canongate, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom: A 15 ct. gold hunting keyless watch, minute-hand missing; a ribbon watchguard with gold shield in centre, and a gold pear-shaped medal attached; a gold sovereign-case, with “ G. McK.” on it; an 18 ct. gold puzzle ring, made of eight small rings ; and a pair of tan boots (size 8), with Phillips’s soles : total value, £2O 10s. Identifiable.

Dunedin. —17th April last, from a coat in the cloak-room at the telegraph-office, the property of ROBERT SHERRIFF, telegraph - operator, 56 Russell Street, a silver hunting Waltham watch, “ E. T. Hill” on outside of inner case ; a Oct. gold curb watoh-chain ; and a gold round sovereigncase, with “ Presented to R. Sherriff on his return from Active Service by the A<S.T.C. members, 1914-1918,” on it: total value, £8 ss. Identifiable.

Mornington. —Between the 22nd and 30th April last the dwelling of JAMES OSWALD HARWOOD, clerk, 148 Kenffiure Road, was broken into, and the following property

stolen therefrom: A leather Gladstone bag, containing two razors, a silver-handled shaving-brush, and six oigars ; total value, £2 6s. Identification doubtful. Suspicion is attached to William Leslie Johnson, a schoolboy, who lives in Mornington.
