PERSONS WANTED.
Newton.- 29th March last, for indecent exposure, Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., supposed seaman, thin build, pale complexion, dark hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit and brown soft-felt hat. About 1.30 p.m. on above date accused indecently exposed himself in Western Park within the view of Florence Lowe, domestic, 95 Beresford Street. No warrant.
Auckland. —lßth ultimo, on warrant for rape, Ned or Edward Martin, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and racecourse guesser, native of Australia, medium build, fair hair going bald, blue eyes; dressed in a blue suit, black patent-leather boots with brown-suede tops, black bow tie, and Stetson hat. He is identical . with Janies Alfred Martin, alias Alfred Janies Martin, referred to in Police Gazette, 1912, page 567, and Photographs, 1913, page 9. Frank Smith, alias “ Pit Pot ” Smith, who has been arrested, induced Irene Kerr to accompany him to 8 Vincent Street, where he and accused and Albert or Bert Brown, referred to in following paragraph, committed the offence upon her.
Auckland. — 18th ultimo, on warrant for rape, Albert or Bert Brown, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., windowdresser, native of Australia, stout build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, heavy eyebrows, upper front teeth missing, large scar below one ear, slightly lame ; dressed in a blue suit and grey Stetson hat; fond of drink ; frequents race meetings. Frank Smith, alias “ Pit Pot ” Smith, who has since been arrested, induced Irene Kerr to accompany him to 8 Vincent Street, where he and accused and Ned or Edward Martin, referred to in preceding paragraph, committed the offence upon her.
Auckland.— 27th February last, on warrant for theft of a khaki canvas kit-bag and a pair of heavy boots (portion of tongue of right boot missing), value £1 55., identifiable, the property of Hakopa Keepa, labourer, 18 Fleet Street, William Joseph Palmer, age twenty height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, light-brown hair, hazel eyes, brown mark under left eye, scar on back of head. Accused was living in the same house as complainant when he committed the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 531, and Photographs, page 61.)
Auckland. —2nd instant, for escaping from the Auckland Mental Hospital, Dorothy Wrightson, age thirty, height 5 ft., domestic, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, black hair and eyes; dressed in a mental hospital striped dress.
Auckland.— 3oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £4 9s. balance of fine and costs for obscene language, John William Thomas Knight, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scar over left eye and on forehead, mole on right cheek, “ K.N.Z.D.” on right forearm. Auckland.— 3oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 6s. fine and costs for assault, Thomas Frederick Perry, alias Tommy James, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., circus performer, strong build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved ; foreign appearance. He rides buckjumpers, and may be found with a circus. He has been associated with Joe Gardiner, the well-known showman, as a jiu-jitsu wrestler. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 109.
Auckland. — 20th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Olive Davies, 60 Wellpark Avenue, is the mother, William Murray, age thirty-six, height sft. Bin., labourer, strong build, sallow complexion, long curly black hair turning grey, blue eyes. Arrears to 27th March last, £ls 7s. 6d.
Auckland. 27th ultimo, that he may be located, and the Superintendent of Police, Auckland, notified of his whereabouts, Arthur Thomas Crawford, age about twentyseven, height about 5 ft. 7 in., billiard-marker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, cleanshaved ; usually dressed in a navy-blue serge or grey suit and black-velour hat; smart appearance.
Auckland. 2Bth ultimo, that a summons for a breach of his prohibition order may be served upon him, George Roland Feek, age forty-three, height sft. 6in., labourer and porter, native of England, slight build, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose with scar on it, clean-shaved, scar on forehead ; dressed in a dark-blue suit, hard-felt hat, and tan boots ; speaks quickly.
Manaia. l4th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his two sons, Charles Lennard, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. Bin., labourer and milker, native of Australia, medium build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes; usually wears a dark muffler and dark-felt hat ; dirty appearance ; fond of drink. Arrears to 15th ultimo, £57. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 496.)
Wanganui. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for theft of a horse, saddle, and bridle (recovered), value £ls, the property of William Beard, farmer, Oreore, George Stokes, alias Edward John Day Stokes, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9in., labourer, native of New Zealand, good build, dark complexion, dark - brown hair, brown eyes ; dressed in a brown dirty suit and soft-felt hat. Accused, who was employed by complainant, was sent to Westmere for the horse, saddle, and bridle. After getting possession of them he sold them to Windleburn Bros., Wanganui, for £B. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 628, and Photographs, page 63.)
Feilding. — 6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Mildred Aelenda Shearsby is the mother, Thomas Williams, age thirty-five, height 6 ft., ironmonger, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Arrears to 17th March last, £l4. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 271.)
Feilding. —6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order, Thomas Jones, age fifty, height 5 ft. Bin., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, grey hair, small brown eyes; usually dressed in a grey suit and cap; slovenly appearance. Arrears to 22nd March last, £6.
Woodville. 3rd instant, on warrant for assault causing bodily harm, James Kyle, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue-grey eyes, clean-shaved, thin face, scar inside each knee ; usually well dressed in a dark-grey suit and light-brown soft-felt bat; coarse voice. Charles Clarke King, licensee, Commercial Hotel, found accused at his meat-safe, and when remonstrated with accused threw several missiles at Mr. King, one of which severely injured his leg. He may be found about some racing-stable. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 237, and 1916, page 639.)
Carterton. — Ist instant, that a summons for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his son, an ex-inmate of Weraroa Industrial School, may be served upon him, Robert Alexander Hogg, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 7Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, scars over right eye, on centre of forehead, on left thumb, and on left forefinger ; deaf. Carterton.— 14th ultimo, that a notice of fine for £lO 14s. for supplying liquor to a prohibited person may be served upon him, Percival Francis Herrick, alias Sam Herrick, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. in., farmer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes, blind in left eye, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a light-grey suit.
Wellington. —lßth February last, on warrant for false pretences, Phillip Austin Minshall, age about thirtyfour, height 6 ft. 1 in., farmer, native of Wales, thin build, fa ; r hair and complexion, sharp features ; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit and dark soft-felt hat turned up at back; quiet manner. A valueless cheque for £ls on the National Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, was uttered at the office of the Royal Oak Hotel. It was signed “P. Austin Minshall,” and made payable to the above hotel.
Wellington. — William Allan, failing to maintain : It has been ascertained by the Taranaki Street (Wellington) police that accused left Wellington for Christchurch on the 11th February last. He is identical with William Joseph Allen, referred to in Police Gazette, 1920, page 117. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 272.)
Christchurch. and uttering, D. Simpson, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., clerk, native of Australia, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes, two moles on right check ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and light-felt hat; slightly stooped. He is supposed to be identical with Donald Charles Livingstone, referred to in Police Gazette, 1917, pages 59 and 92. Accused forged the name “ James Simpson” to a cheque for £lO, and uttered it to Edward George Smith, boot-importer, High Street, in payment for a pair of boots.
Christchurch. —19th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Mavis Henderson, 72 Wharanui Road, Riccarton, is the mother, Ah Chung, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 10 in., market-gardener, native of China, strong build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes, flat nose. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 772.)
Christchurch. — 29th ultimo, for escaping from Sunnyside Mental Hospital, Timothy Buckley, age twentyfive, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes; wears a long overcoat closely buttoned. He has suicidal tendencies, and is considered a dangerous lunatic.
Dunedin. —3rd instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Margaret Railton, 13 Nelson Street, William Railton, age fifty-nine, height sft. 3 in., boilermaker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, thin features ; usually dressed in a dark suit and cap. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Dunedin. Arrears to 3rd ultimo, £4OO 10s.
Otautau. —19th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, John Grey Somerville, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., clerk and traveller, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, full round face; usually well dressed in a navy-blue suit, grey cap, and black shoes, and may be wearing pince-nez. He is fond of speaking of foreign countries and of his business on the Stock Exchange. Accu-ed obtained board and lodging, value £2l, and £1 in change from Sarah Keith, hotelkeeper, by means of a valueless cheque for £22 os. 6d.
