EXTRACTS FROM NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

(From New Zealand Gazette, 1920, pages 1380 and 1397.) Prison proclaimed. [l.s.J LIVERPOOL, Governor-General. A PROCLAMATION. WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is provided that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a prison, and from and after the gazetting of any such Proclamation, or from any time later specified in the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed a prison : Now, therefore," I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that the area of land described in • the Schedule hereto, and all buildings and enclosures used or occupied thereon, shall, from and after the date of the publication of this Proclamation in the Gazette, be a prison, known as the Roto-aira Prison No. IV, within the meaning and for the purposes of the Prisons Act, 1908.

: SCHEDULE. : All that area in the Wellington Land District, being part of the Waimanu Block, containing approximately 50 acres, bounded towards the. north by the Waimarino-Tokaanu Road from peg No. CXC to peg No. CLXXXVII shown on road-plan No. 178/7, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Wellington; bounded towards the east by a right line running due south from the : above peg No. CLXXXVII for a distance of about twenty chains ; bounded towards the south by a right lino running due west; and towards the west by a right line running due north to the said peg No. CXC. Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Member of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Knight of Justice of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-first day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty. Amending Notice, under Animals Protection Act.-South Canterbury Acclimatization District LIVERPOOL, Governor-General. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend, in manner hereinafter provided, the notification made under the Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated the third day of April,

one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the ninth day of the same month, declaring a shooting season for imported and native game in the South Canterbury Acclimatization District: Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby substitute the thirty-first day of July in lieu of the fourteenth day of May wherever it appears in the Warrant of the third day of April, which said Warrant is hereby amended accordingly.
