PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —3rd instant, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for six months in default of paying £302 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his four children, William Alexander Bathgate or Alexander William Bathgate, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., photographer, native of Scotland, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes. Arrears computed to 31st July last.

Pukekohe. —6th instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 13s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Alfred James Nicholas Weston, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. Bin., labourer and fencer, native of New Zealand, medium build, grey hair, hazel eyes, long nose, scar on left wrist. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 683.)

Palmerston North.l7th November last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £1 6s. balance of fine and costs for illegally drinking liquor in a restaurant, Peter Garrity, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and hotel porter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved; four artificial upper front teeth.

Palmerston North,22nd December last, on warrant of commitment to Palmerston North Police-gaol for twentyfour hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Kenneth McDonald, age sixty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Scotland, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar on nose, anchor and soroll on left forearm ; dressed in a light-grey-tweed suit, dark soft-felt hat, and black heavy boots, and has a beard ; fond of drink. Palmerston North.23rd December last, that a summons for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours may be served upon him, Phillip Joseph Greene, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and shearer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on left cheek.

Palmerston North. 7th instant, for escaping from the police lock-up, Henry Joseph Lewis, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 7|in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair long in front, grey eyes ; dressed in khaki riding-breeches and puttees (no coat or hat); active gait. He was awaiting sentence on several charges of breaking, entering, and theft. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 43.)

Wellington.— Charles Bernard Allen, alias George Alison, false pretences: It has been ascertained by the Gisborne police that accused is identical with Charles Bernhard Allen, referred to in Police Gazette, 1919, page 669. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 64.)

Wellington. —9th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a wristlet watch, a gold signet ring with “ W. O’H ” on it, a gold band ring (set with four sapphires and a cluster of diamond-chips), and other articles which have been recovered, total value £l2, the property of Winifred O’Halloran, Lower Hutt, W. Roach (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 2 in., thin build, dark complexion, black hair, thin features ; dressed in a blue-serge suit with double-breasted coat, and light-fawn soft-felt hat; jockey appearance. The description is that of the man who sold the recovered articles to Symons Nausbaum, second-hand dealer, Courtenay Place, for 12s. 6d. He is believed to be identical with J. Williams, alias G. Wilson, referred to in following paragraph. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 52.)

Wellington.— l9th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a hat, handkerchiefs, collars, ties, shirts, a tie-pin, a cigarholder, a silver case for a cigarette-holder, two Savingsbank pass - books, and other articles which have been recovered, total value £4O, the property of Thomas Francis Mullaly, Stock Inspector, J. Williams, alias G. Wilson, age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 2 in., thin build, dark complexion, black hair, thin features; jockey appearance. The description is that of the man who sold the recovered articles to Margaret Russell and Annie Phillips, second-hand dealers, Taranaki Street, for £3 10s. He is believed to be identical with W. Roach, referred to in preceding paragraph. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 52.)

Wellington. l4th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £lO, the property of George Drummond Philp, telegraph messenger, Ted Smith, age about twenty, height sft. sin., medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair; dressed in a brown suit, soft-felt hat turned down all round, and tan boots. Accused stole the bioycle from outside the post-office, and offered it for sale to C. W. Price, auctioneer, who paid £1 deposit on it.

Wellington.— sth ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Mary Richardson, 36 Murphy Street, Reginald Henry Richardson, age forty-four, height 6 ft., striker, native of New Zealand, dark hair, light-hazel eyes; slightly stooped.

Wellington.— 2oth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a suit of clothes (recovered), value £9 95., the property of William Hammond Lee, manager, Albion Hotel, D. Williams (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, slight build, sallow complexion, clean-shaved, thin features; dressed in a dark-brown suit and dark cap. Accused stole the suit from a bedroom in the above hotel, and pledged it at Max Deckston’s pawnshop, Courtenay Place, for £l.

Wellington. —l6th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a rug (recovered), value £2 10s., the property of Sidney George Nathan, land and estate agent, 105 Customhouse Quay, Seatt (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-nine, height sft. 10in., medium build, fair complexion, high cheek-bones, thin features; dressed in a dark suit. Accused stole the rug from complainant’s motor-car in Hobson Street, and pledged it at Max Deckston’s pawnshop, Courtenay Place, for 10s.

Wellington.— 7th instant, for while being armed with a pistol did rob Emma Gapper, widow, 87 Ellice Street, of a black-leather handbag, containing a padlock key, a Yale key, an envelope addressed to Mr. Perrin,” a Public Service discount book, and 15s. in cash, total value £2 95., Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes, heavy eyebrows; dressed in a blue suit and dark-felt hat. Accused with a handkerchief tied across his face and a pistol in his hand approached complainant and her daughter, Blanche Good, who were sitting in Ellice Street Reserve. He presented the pistol at the latter and demanded her purse. He picked up Mrs. Gapper’s bag and ran away. No warrant.

Mount Cook. sth instant, that he may be compelled to pay £5 6s. sd. arrears of maintenance due for the support of his stepchild, Stanley Laming, Carl Neilsen, alias Charles Nelson, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in.,

seaman and labourer, native of Denmark, stout build, fair complexion, hair, and moustaohe, clean-shaved, full face ; usually dressed in a light-brown or blue-serge suit and light soft-felt hat.

Greymoutii. —29th September last, on two warrants of commitment to Paparua Prison for (1) fourteen days in default of paying £5 2s. 2d. fine and costs for theft, and (2) three days in default of paying 10s. costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Edward Jones, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes ; hands across the sea and woman’s bust on right forearm ; scar on right wrist.

Christchurch.— 2Bth ultimo, , that he may be compelled to maintain his three children, inmates of industrial schools, William Wilkinson Foster, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 3 in., wharf labourer and storeman, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, fair hair and moustache, darkblue eyes, flat thick nose ; fond of drink. Methven. 3rd instant, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £1 flue and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Alexander Gilchrist, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, dark complexion, darkbrown hair, grey eyes. Dunedin. —sth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Ruby Violet Keighran, an inmate of St. Vincent de Paul’s Orphanage, South Dunedin, Richard Cochrane, alias Cockran, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Tasmania, medium build, tanned complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, wrinkled face, left middle finger amputated ; dressed in a light-tweed suit and grey-felt hat with a wide brim. Gore. —l6th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his two illegitimate children, John Thomas Boyd, age forty-seven, height 6 ft. lin., labourer and miner, native of Australia, strong build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes ; dressed in a brown suit and black-felt hat. He may be accompanied by Mrs. Mary Richardson, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. 2 in., medium build, fair hair, pale complexion, blue eyes. She and accused have been living together under the name Mr. and Mrs. Cook.
