Kawakawa. —2nd October last, on warrant of commitment to Auokland Prison for one month in default of paying £2l 14s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his child, of whom Marguerite Irene Clark is the mother, Ralph Clyde Rawlinson, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved; pleasant appearance.

Newton. —l6th November last, on warrant tor theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £B, the property of Kenneth Service, 25 Picton Street, W. White (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 7in., thin build, sallow complexion, brown hair, cleanshaved, pimples on face; dressed in a dark shabby suit. moustache; dressed in a brown suit and brown-felt hat. Accused committed the offence at the Palace Theatre, Karangahape Road. No warrant.

Auckland. —31st August last, that he may be compelled to maintain Dorothy and Evelyn Wilson, inmates of St. Mary’s Industrial School, Edward Maurice Wilson, age about forty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, dark-brown moustache; usually dressed in a greytweed suit and black-felt hat; fond of drink. He may be found on a firewood or scrub-cutting contract. Arrears to the 23rd October last, £l9 9s. 6d.

He has been associated with Joe Gardiner, the well known showman, as a jiu-jitsu wrestler.

Harrison, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and porter, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, piercing dark eyes, ginger moustache ; dressed in a dark-brown-tweed suit and soft-felt hat or grey cap; wears an engagement-ring on one right finger and a brown knitted glove on left hand. Accused obtained a dinner-set, value £3 10s., and £6 10s. in cash from Messrs. Smith and Caughey (Limited), drapers, Queen Street, by means of a valueless cheque, No. A 92863, for £lO, on the Bank of Australasia, Te Aroha. Believed identical with Sid Harrison, referred to in Police Gazette , 1919, page 650.

Bd. arrears of maintenance due for the support of his two children, inmates of Auckland Receiving Home, James Clarence Owen, age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, dark hair and comp'exion.

Accused stole the harness from a horse in the horse-bazaar, and sold it to Ellern and Day, auctioneers, receiving a cheque for £2 53., drawn on Union Bank of Australia, Hamilton. No warrant.

Te Awamutu. —23rd May last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £lO 13s. fine and costs for illegally supplying liquor to a Maori, Colin McDonald, age sixty-eight, neigth 5 ft. 9 in., camp cook, native of Canada, slight build, sallow blotchy complexion, grey hair and eyes ; suffers from eczema op face ; slovenly appearance, •

Ohakune. 29th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, George Williamson, age about sixteen, height about 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, round face ; dressed in knickerbockers, puttees, spurs, and grey coat and vest. Accused obtained a pair of boots, value £2 3s. 6d., and £4 16s. 6d. in cash from John Boatwood, draper, Ohakune, by means of a valueless cheque for £7.

Napier.—loth October last, for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £lO, the property of John Gotterell, Hastings Street, William Rhodes Ling, age twentytwo, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and compositor, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes. The accused sold the bioycle to a dealer for £3. No warrant. His arrest is desired by the Probation Officer. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 2.)

He left this Dominion on the 31st ultimo as a seaman on the sailing-ship “ Louis Therrault.”

Christchurch.— 9th October last, on warrant for theft of a silver hunting keyless watch, No. 952272, value £6, the property of George Greening, Little River, George Curson, age thirty-eight, height 6 ft., cook, slight build, fair hair and complexion. Complainant who had previously pawned his watch at Phil Metz’s pawn-office, Armagh Street, gave the pawn ticket and 19s. to accused to redeem the watch for him. He redeemed the watch, but failed to return it to complainant. He may be accompanied by his son, four yeais of age.

Lyttelton. —loth July last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 10s. .fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Harry Keogh, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., fireman, native of Ireland, medium build, sallow complexion, hair turning grey, grey eyes, broken nose.

Timaru. — 6th instant, on warrant for theft of a suit of clothes (recovered), value £5 10s., the property of Edward Ainsley, 9 Barnard Street, two military clothes-brushes, two Bengal razors, a gold curb watch-chain (with a double sovereign-case and a bowling-medal with ,“J.L.W.’ , on it attached), a gentlemen’s gold band ring with “J.L.W.” on it; and a gold tie-pin, set with a small diamond, total value £l2, identifiable, the property of John L. Wright, Aubrey Ibell, age nineteen, height sft. sin., hotel porter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and lightfelt hat with a black band on it. The accused was boarding with the complainants when he committed the thefts.

Accused took the coat from the Crown Hotel, and sold it for 15s. to Annie Hope, second-hand dealer, King Street. He is believed to be identical with Frederick David Jones, referred to in Police Gazette, 1919, page 772. There are other charges pending.

Kaitangata.—lßth July last, that they may be located and the Superintendent of Police, Dunedin, notified of their whereabouts, Archibald Cuff, age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 7 in., fireman and steward, medium build, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a dark suit and Dr. Jim hat; an ex industrial-school inmate : and Walter Miller, age about nineteen, height about 5 ft. 10 in., fireman and labourer, slight build, dark complexion, dark hair (bushy in front) ; dressed in a dark suit and grey cap ; an ex industrialschool inmate. The men referred to stayed at the Bridge Hotel, Kaitangata, and after their departure the following property was found in the room which they had occupied : A pair of grey-brown blankets, branded “ U.S.S. Co.”; a white canvas kit-bag, No. 3/3075, branded “ N.Z. Defence, 1916, N.Z.M.C. ” ; a green-canvas suit-case ; and a pair of white-duck trousers. If located, it is desired that an explanation as to how they became possessed of the property be obtained from them.
