Auckland. 24th ultimo, on warrant that he may be compelled to pay £6B 15s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Aileen Louisa Marmont, and her three children, Claude Randolph Marmont, alias Parker, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes; right knee stiff; left thumb has been injured. George Bennet, failing to maintain: It has now been ascertained by the Queen Street Wharf (Auckland) police that the offender obtained a permit to travel to Tahiti by the s.s. “ Moana” on the 9th Ootober last. Hastings.— 4th instant, that she may be compelled to maintain her illegitimate child, an inmate of Wellington Industrial School, Minnie McDonald (known as Mrs. Stewart), age thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 4 in., cook, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes. Shannon. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a ladies’ bicycle (recovered), value £5, the property of William Richard Jay, East Road, William Wells, alias Chapman, age about forty-six, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, light-brown hair; twitching in one eye and mouth, small feet; usually dressed in a blue suit, black-felt hat, and ladies’ boots; plausible manner. Accused borrowed the bicycle from the complainant, and left it as a security for £1 which he borrowed from G. G. Kelly, cycle agent.

Shannon. —7th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) seven days in default of paying £3 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness, (2) one month in default -of paying £3 3s. fine and costs for trespass, Andrew Anderson, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., cook and flax-mill hand, native of Finland, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustaohe, blue eyes, heavy eyebrows, “ A.K.” and anchor on back of right hand; Royal and Russian flags on right forearm, Crucifix on left forearm, bullet-wounds on right wrist and hip, lump under left jaw; usually dressed in a light-grey suit; bow-legged.

Masterton.— 3lst October last, that a copy of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child may be served upon him, Leslie Robert Broughton, age twenty, height 5 ft. 10 in., groom and jockey, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes; a quarter-caste Maori. Lower Hutt.— 2oth ultimo, for assault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about -5 ft. 6 in., strong build; dressed in a grey suit and soft-felt hat. Accused, in Queens Road, struck Miss Mary Ferguson on the face with a flour-bag containing a quantity of sand, which rendered her unconscious. No warrant.

Wellington. —6th October last, that a warrant of distress for 10s. may be executed upon his effects, Percy Higgs, age thirty-three, height 5 ft., taxi-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion.

Accused, who was employed by complainants, received a cheque for £26 6s. 6d. (which he subsequently cashed) from H. Lyttelton. —Bth October last, that a notice of fine for 12s. for a breach of his prohibition order may be served upon him, William or William Frederick Stone, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and carpenter, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes. Lyttelton. — On or about 15th October last, on warrant for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value about £5, the property of some person unknown, James Taylor, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7£in., labourer and fireman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes.
