PROPERTY STOLEN.
Newton. —On the 18th ultimo LEDIARD AND KINGSFORD’S sadler’s shop in Karangahape Road was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom: A gun-metal keyless watoh in a new leather wristlet, and a leather head-strap with a throat-band attaohed ; total value, 12s. 6d. Identifiable.
Auckland.— THOMAS STRANGE’S watoh, &c., stolen: It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that the number of the watch is 108259. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 39.)
Otahuhu.— 3oth ultimo, from a whare, the property of JULIUS POTTKAEMPER, Mangere, a £1 note and 19s. sd. in silver and copper money. Suspicion is attached to Leonard Irvine Piesse, alias Robert Harvey, age fourteen, height 5 ft. 3 in., message - boy and farm hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair hair and complexion, light-blue eyes; dressed in a grey knickerhocker suit and blue cap. Suspect was occupying the whare along with complainant when the money was stolen. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 70.)
Hastings. property of GEORGE FINDLAY, Hastings Street, a ladies’ black-enamelled free-wheel Royal Enfield bicycle, No. 829860, rubber pedals, skirt-guard and mud-guard attached; value, £7. Identifiable.
Masterton.— On or about the 13th October last, from CHARLES BENNETT’S shed in Essex Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Hobart bicycle, No. 5831, straight handles, back-pedalling brake, rim-brake on front wheel, rat - trap pedals, Sirdar tire on back wheel; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.
Wellington. —lsth ultimo, the property of BANNATYNE AND CO., Customhouse Quay, a gentlemen’s 24 in. Empire bicycle, No. 66136 J, Eadie Coaster hub, back-pedalling brake, Mansfield saddle, Rajah and Dunlop tires; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.
Wellington. —3oth ultimo, from the person of JAMES CHRISTIE, 3 William Street, Hataitai, five £1 notes, portion of one missing which is on the Bank of Australasia, one only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about thirty-two, height about 5 ft. 10 in., strong build, clean-shaved, wrinkled face; neatly dressed in a brown suit and black soft-felt hat. He is believed to have several front teeth missing. Suspect snatched the money from the complainant while in the New-Zealander Hotel.
Wellington. —On or about the 22nd ultimo, from mailbags while in transit between San Francisco and Wellington, by the s.s. “ Moana,” the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), ten manicure-sets, each s^in. by 2£ in., fastens with two domes, each containing five articles in a folding pad; a pair of ladies’ shoes, No. 404 : a pair of ladies’ Colt Blue Oxford shoes, Mode last; two ladies’ fancy brown hats ; two purple hats; two bluish hats; seven lamp - sockets for electric globes, 630 W, 250 volts, made by the General Electric Company, U.S.A. ; and a red-rubber sponge: total value, about £29.
Christchurch.— 24th December last, from outside Government Buildings, the property of JOHN JACKSON, Labour Department, a gentlemen’s black - enamelled free-wheel Victor B.S.A. bicycle, upturned reversible handles with black grips with a small red riDg on them, nickel rims, Eadie Coaster hub, rat-trap pedals, steel mud-guards, Victor Special tires ; value, £l2. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —14th December last, from outside the Queen’s Theatre, the property of ERNEST CLARK, 58 Bishop Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Banfield bicycle, curved handles with black celluloid grips, hole under one handle, rubber pedals, Eadie Coaster hub, steel mud-guards; value, £B. Identifiable.
