PROPERTY STOLEN.

Newton. —On or about the 2nd instant, LEES BROS.’ shop in Karangahape Road was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom: Two pairs of dark trousers, size 5, a heavy dark unlined Raglan overcoat with belt at back ; two pairs of blue-serge trousers, sizes 5 and 6; a pair of blue-serge trousers with a fine white stripe, size 5 ; two pairs of lignt worsted trousers, size 5 ; a doublebreasted black-serge suit, size 5, with fancy pookets and cuffs; a grey worsted suit, size 4; a light-green worsted striped suit, size 5, with fancy cuffs; a grey suit; a blueserge vest, size 6; a grey-check worsted suit, size 5 ; an alpaca jacket with two buttons on it and patch pockets; a dark-grey double-breasted suit, size 6; 17 yards of blue serge ; and a pair of heavy tailor’s scissors, square at ends, with brass handles : total value, about £6O. Identifiable.

Auckland.— l7th October last, from the Technical College, the property of LESLIE HARRISON, a gentlemen’s freewheel Governor bicycle with “ L.H.” on front, black-en-amelled with green and gold lines, back-pedalling brake, nickel rims and spokes ; total value, £5. Identifiable.

Te Aeoha. — Between the 15th August last and the 30th ultimo, from HERBERT LESLIE JONES’S farm at Wairakau, nine four-year-old bullocks and five four-year-old cattle (mixed sexes), bullocks earmarked with a quarter bit out of right ear and a slit in left ear, heifers similarly earmarked on opposite ears, branded S on neck, all branded YJ with bar ; total value, £195. Identifiable.

Gisborne. — 24th October last, from outside the showgrounds, the property of KEITH JOHNSTONE, 217 Stout Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled Premier bicycle, 22 in. frame, down-turned handles, back-pedalling brake, rat-trap pedals, front mud-guard broken, Rajah tire on front wheel and Sirdar tire on back wheel; value, £4. Identifiable.

Gisborne. —Ist October last, from outside Buscke and Parker’s office, the property of GEORGE DICK, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled bicycle, flat handles, two brakes, flap on front mud-guard, new tire on front wheel; value, £4. Identifiable.

Taumarunui. —22nd ultimo, from the railwav waitingroom, the property of ARTHUR GEOFFREY MARSHALL FITZHERBERT, Rangitane, Mangaweka, a gentlemen’s kit-bag with “ A.G.F.” on it, containing a brown suit with “New Zealand Clothing Faotory” on tag; a pair of dancing-pumps, size 9 ; a white tennis-shirt ; two khaki tennis-shirts; a dark-grey-flannel shirt; a heavy singlet with long sleeves ; two light-grey woollen Spencers (ladies’) ; a new singlet; four pairs of black-cashmere socks ; a pair of blue-and-white-striped pyjamas; two oream-silk collars, size 16; a jar of cream; a bottle of hair-lotion; an openface watch, with “F. G. Hilton, Marton,” on dial, and two small dents on back ; a military certificate with “ Sgt. A. G. M. Fitzherbert, 6th Wellington Mounted Rifles,” on it; an ebony-backed hair-brush, with a silver heart-shaped shield with “ G.F,” on it; a white-handled razor in case, with “R. Carey, Marton,” on blade; a black-leather razorstrop, with a cut near bottom ; six handkerchiefs ; a pair of gentlemen’s black boots ; and a quantity of correspondence from Percy Tennant and A. Cruickshank: total value, £ls ss.

Napier. —On or about the 22nd ultimo, from a bedroom at 9 Gladstone Road, the property of LILLIAN WEBB, a ladies’ black-leather handbag, with heliotrope-silk lining, containing a small black purse, a £1 note, a door and a

bcx key on a chain, a pair of tweezers, a gold cross-shaped brooch with a threepenny-piece in centre, a handkerchief, and a pair of doeskin gloves ; total value, £3. Identifiable

Napier. —On or about July last, from the Salvation Army Maternity Home, Wellington, the property of ROSE DUN Crown Hotel, Port Ahuriri, a brown tin box, 4 ft. by 2 ft. by 2 ft., containing a pair of silver-plated vases (8 in. high), a pair of bronze vases (8 in. high), several square and round trinket boxes with flower-embossed covers, a D.B. white blanket, a black-tweed costume, two knitted dressingjackets, six pairs of calico combinations, four white flannelette night-dresses, and a quantity of photographs ; total value, £7 17s. 6d. Suspicion is attached to Gladys Dittmer, alias Violet Ditmer, age twenty-two, height 5 ft., domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair worn low on forehead, grey eyes.

Waipawa. —loth October last from the Commercial Hotel, the property of BERTHA WOUGH, a ladies’ brown-leather handbag, 12 in. long, Sin. deep, containing a diamond engagement ring, similar to illustration No. 85 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 6; a ladies’ small gold open-face wristlet watch ; a silver fruit knife with “ J.L.” on handle ; and an oxidized silver notebook : total value, £lO 15s. Identifiable.

Woodville. —l6th March last, the property of DICK HALL, cycle-dealer, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled Raleigh bicycle, 24 in. frame, upturned handles, rat-trap pedals, Dunlop tires; value, £6 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Albert Herbert Hewitt, referred to in Police Gazette, 1917, page 699. Suspect hired the bicycle from complainant, and has failed to return it.

Upper Hutt. —On or about the 22nd ultimo, from the Picture Theatre, the property of ILEEN ALEXANDER, an Ernemann cinematograph-lens, 3Jin. long and IJin. thick ; value, £7. Not identifiable.

Timaru. —On the 7th instant MARY ELIZABETH McHATTIE’S dwelling at Latter Street wa'S broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom: An 18 ct. gold wedding-ring; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress-ring, set with two rubies and a diamond ; a curb bangle with a safety chain and lock attached ; a gold buckle brooch, set with three pearls; a ladies’ silver wristlet watch in a celluloid case; and £3 in gold : total value, £7. Identifiable except money.

Wellington. —llth instant, from a coat in a cloak-room in Nathan’s Buildings, the property of FREDERICK STANLEY COOTE, 44 Piri Street, a brown-leather pocketbook, with nickel fastener, containing two £5 notes ; two or three £1 notes; two open cheques on the Union Bank of Australasia, Wellington, signed “ T. B. Edwards,” one for £2 in favour of “F. S. Ooote,” and the other for £1 in favour of “ C. Thorpe,” three 1.0.U.s made out to “F. S. Coote,” and signed as follows—“A. Blyth ” for £23, “ V. Moss ’’for £ls, and “ G. Fox ” for £4 ; a single saloon steamer ticket in name of “ Mr. Coote,” Wellington to Nelson, by s.s. “ Mapourika ” ; a blue leave-of-absence military ticket; and two theatre-stall tickets for “ New Henrietta.” Identifiable except money.

Christchurch. 6th ultimo, from outside the King George Hotel, the property of R. S. ELSTON, 55 Essex street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, upturned handles with black grips, steel rims, pedals, and mud-guards, front brake, head broken and fastened with wire ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Christchurch. — 6th ultimo, from the Riccarton Racecourse, the property of O. KRUSE, 18 Frank Street, Papanui, a gentlemen’s free-wheel bicycle, wide upturned handles with black grips, nickel rims, front brake, steel pedals and mud-guards ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —6th ultimo, from the trotting-grounds, the property of W. HILES, 185 Manchester Street, a gentlemen’s free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, black-enamelled with gold lines, upturned handles with black grips, steel pedals, one hand brake, Dunlop tire on front wheel, Michelin tire on back wheel; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch.— Between the 7th and 17th ultimo, the property of ARTHUR W. COOK, Warwick House, a pair of “ Busch ” prismatic field-glasses, size 9, in a black-leather case, with a new strap on it; value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.

Addington. —On or about the 14th ultimo, from the Yicarage in Park Road, the property of JANE ANNE BEAN, a dark-brown “ Kaiapoi ” rug with buff stripes through it, and 51b. of khaki knitting-wool (31b. rebovered) ; total value, £3 12s. Identifiable.
