PERSONS WANTED.

Wellsford. —9th September last, that a summons for failing to notify his change of address may be served upon him, William Henry Johnstone, age thirty-seven, height sft. 9in., surfaceman, native of New Zealand; right arm paralysed.

Newton. -12th ultimo, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, Robert Alexander Gunn, age twenty - eight, gumdigger, native of New Zealand.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— l6th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Mahia,” R. Hammil, age thirty-six, scuilion, native of Ireland.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —-17th instant, on warrant for being absent without leave from the barque “Rothesay Bay,” John Leyland, height 5 ft. 8 in., seaman, native of Nova Scotia, good build, dark complexion , dressed in a blue suit.

Auckland. —22nd instant, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, Herbert Chapman, age forty-three, height 5 ft. sin., engineer, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair and eyes, clean-shaved; usually dressed in a blue suit, brown leggings, and tweed cap ; right side of face twitches. Auckland. — 14th September last, for false pretences, Man (name unknown) age about thirty-five, height, about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion, light-brown moustache ; dressed in a dai'k-grey-tweed suit and black hard hat. Acoused obtained a suit of clothes, dark tweed with dark stripes and a bluish thread through it, size 4, and an extra pair of trousers of same material, and three linen collars, size 16, total value £3 14s. 7d., from the Farmers’ Union Trading Company, Port Street, Auckland, by falsely representing through the telephone that the articles were for Mr. Pickup, and ordered them to be sent to Glenalvon Boardinghouse, outside of where he met the boy and took delivery of the parcel. No warrant.

Auckland.—2oth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a steel trunk (recovered), value 18s. 6d., the property of George Powlds (Limited), Queen Street, George Harrison, age fifty, height 5 ft. 11 in., slight build, dark complexion, prominent nose ; dressed in dark striped trousers, dark-tweed overcoat and cap ; wears glasses. He may be identical with George Harrison, alias Charley son, referred to in Police Gazette , 1917, page 568.

Mananui. —21st instant, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, James Clark, age thirty, height sft. 8 in., bushman, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, auburn hair, light-blue eyes.

Port Awanui.—sth February last, that a notice of fine and costs for £2 7s. for being drunk and disorderly may be served upon him, James Watson, alias John Watson, age thirty-four, height sft. 7Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, ginger moustache. Manaia. —19th instant, that he may be compelled to maintain his children, Charles Lennard, age about forty-five, labourer and milker, native of Australia, medium build, dark complexion atm hair, clean-shaved, blue eyes; has been a good athlete ; fond of drink. Inquiry by Donald Robertson, farmer, Manaia, with whom the children were left in April, 1915.

Wellington, —l6th instant, for failing to notify his change of address, John George Hope, age about thirty, native of Tasmania. He was last heard of at Gonville, near Wanganui, in April last. Wellington. —lßth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying 10s. balance of fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Herbert Maloney, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes.

Mount Cook. —Bth ultimo, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may bo instituted against him, Robert David Menzies, alias David Green, alias Dean, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., sugar-boiler, native of New Zealand s medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; woman’s bust on right arm; cross, flag, and “D” on left arm. Christchurch. —Bth instant, that he may be compelled to pay £B3 16s. sd. arrears of maintenance due for the support of his four children, inmates of an industrial school, Joseph Ayers, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 5Jm., labourer and hotel porter, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on one thumb ; collar-bone has been broken. He is identical with Percy Joseph Ayers, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 226.

Christchurch. —3rd ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Thomas R. Chisholme (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 10^in., stableman, good erect build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, sharp nose, long face, high cheek-bones, small feet; usually dressed in a brown or grey suit, grey cap, heavy dark overooat, and brown boots; neat appearance. Complainant, Jane Dickson Bishop, domestic, Methven.

Methven.— -30th December, 1916, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, John James Hay don, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes.

Dunedin. —l4th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Charles Henderson, age thirtytwo, height about 5 ft. 8 in., bootmaker, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on abdomen ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and black soft-felt hat; plays the cornet. Dunedin. —Between Ist ultimo and 12th instant, on warrant for theft, Roily P. Beste. age about thirtyeight, height about 5 ft. 7m., agent, strong build, sallow complexion, dark hair; right foot injured; usually dressed in a blue suit and hard-felt hat, and wears an •‘Anzac” badge; uses a crutch and leather strap from right foot to trousers; plausible manner; fond of drink. Accused, who carried on a general inquiry and debt collecting agency, collected £3 Bs. from T. Yule, and failed to account for or pay it to Alexander Garden, mercer, 77 Princes Street, who had given accused authority to collect his accounts.

Invercargill. —l2th July last, that proceedings for failing to enrol may be instituted against him, William Berry, age twenty-two, height about 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, bushy dark hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a black or navy-blue suit and soft-felt hat; delicate appearance.
