PERSONS WANTED.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— 6th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Waiwera,” James Bulls, alias Buis, age thirty, height 5 ft. BJin., fireman, native of England, medium build, fair hair and complexion, hazel eyes; cross, clasped hands, and “ Teresa Byrne ”on right forearm ; “James Buis” on right wrist.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— Bth instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Arawa,” G. Bowles, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6in., steward, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair.

Auckland. —sth ultimo, that a distress warrant for £lO 3s. costs in case A. W. McNair v. William Masson may be executed upon his effects, Archibald McNair, alias Alexander McPair, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in.,

labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, light-grey eyes. (See Police Gazette , 1897, page 94.)

Auckland. —23rd January last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months in default of paying £76 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jeannie Marchbanks, Robert Marchbanks, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 9|in,, labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, clasped hands across heart over scroll on left forearm. Auckland. —l2th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for four months in default of payment of £9l 17s. 6d., arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Elizabeth Richardson, Janies Stewart Richardson, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of Scotland, slight build, sallow complexion, dark-grey hair, grey eyes, Saviour on left forearm; two left fingers amputated. Auckland.— 26th September last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 18s. 6d. costs for vagrancy, Sarah Dennis, age fifty-eight, height 5 ft. in., prostitute, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on right side of neck, mole on chin. Auckland.—lst July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 16s. 6d. costs for drunkenness, Charles Patrick Porter, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 9% in., miner, native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey-blue eyes. He is believed to be identical with Charles Porter, referred to in Police Gazette, 1909, page 355.

Auckland.— 26th December last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 6s. for drunkenness, Annie Dunn, alias Kennedy, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 1 in., prostitute, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, grey eyes, scar on bridge of nose “F. S.” on breast, “0. Watters” and “C. Wamn” on right arm. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 734.)

Taihape. —7th April last, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for one month in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for exposing himself while suffering from typhoid-fever, David William Pearson, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, slight build, fresh complexion, dark hair ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and a dark-felt hat.

Waverley.—2sth January last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Prison for one month in default of paying £3 Bs. 6d., arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his child, Edna Alfreda Wall, Alfred Arthur W'all, age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 9 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, scar near left eye, dot on right forearm. Arrears computed to 25th January last.

Rongotea.—sth instant, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failing to report for camp), Vincent Carroll, age thirty, height sft. Bin., farmer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, lightbrown hair, blue eyes; smart appearance; weight 1791 b. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Palmerston North.—lsth instant, on military warrant (for failing to report for camp), Henry Smith, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. Bfin., native of New Zealand, labourer, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, growth-mark on back of neck, dressed in black suit, no shirt, grey flannel, heavy boots; slovenly gait, fond of drink; pair of light boots attached to swag. Palmerston North. —17th instant, that a summons may be served on him for obscene language, J. Fisher, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., traveller, stouo build, dark complexion, dark hair; dresssd in dark suit, soft-felt hat; fond of drink ; wears glasses.

Palmerston North. —17th instant, that a summons may be served on him for breach of his prohibition order, Henry James Tietjens, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand, baker or pastrycook, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, long nose; sailorwaving cap, and “Sailor’s farewell” on right forearm; clasped hands over heart, feather “J. Wellington.—2lst ultimo, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “Northumberland,” A. Bullock, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. in., fireman, native of England, slight build, dark complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes, thin features, pitted from smallpox, anchor on left arm.

Wellington.—2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £8 ss. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of Alice Barlow, Henry Rupert Barlow, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., motor-mechanic, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a brown suit and a black hardfelt hat. Arrears computed to the 15th January last.

Wellington.—l3th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his child, Elizabeth Constance Keszler, Philip George Keszler, age thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and seaman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, scar on right forearm. Arrears to 26th ultimo, 10s. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 692.)

Wellington.—l7th January last, on warrant for indecently assaulting Eleanor Josephine Sharp, a girl of the age of four years, Henry Arthur Grant, alias Arthur Henry Grant, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 2 in., driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark com plexion, black hair, brown eyes, mole on left thigh and on back, two small scars on left forefinger ; usually dressed in a dark suit and a soft-felt hat. The offence was committed at the house, 33 Adelaide Road. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 315.)

Wellington.—6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of payment of £l2 15s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the sup-

port of his two illegitimate children, Thomas Turvey, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. lljin., labourer and dealer, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, Roman nose, mole on neck, middle fingers and right leg have been injured. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 109.)

Wellington.—l7th instant, for escaping from Mount Cook Prison, John Dome, alias Owen, alias Rowe, age forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., native of New Zealand, labourer, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. Offender was serving a sentence of five years for indeoent assault. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 670.)

Wellington.—l6th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Ernest Charles Millar, age thirtyeight, height 5 ft. 8 in., native of New Zealand, seaman, stout build, fair complexion, fair curly hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in blue suit; walks with slight limp. Complainant, Margaret Jane Millar, Star and Garter Private Hotel, Cuba Street.

Wellington.—7th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours in default of payment of 10s. costs for breach of City By-laws, Henry Leader, age fifty-seven, height sft. 5J in., native of Ireland, steward, slim build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, two large scars on back of head, nose has been broken.

Wellington.—l6th instant, that he may be compelled to support his son, Leo Wells, an inmate of the Boy’s Training Farm, Nelson, Frederick Weils, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6J in., native of Canada, engineer, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose; wears strap on left wrist. Inquiry at instance of Education Department.

Mount Cook (Wellington).—2nd instant, for escaping from military detention, Ernest Woodcock, age thirtysix, height 5 ft. 6J in., native of New Zealand, farm labourer, stout build, sallow complexion, dark hair turning grey, dark eyes, right knee-joint weak ; dressed in fawn-coloured denims. Next-of-kin, Mrs. E. J. Weeks, mother, Bolland’s Avenue, Avondale. No warrant.

Christchurch.—l2th instant, that a summons for failing to maintain may be served upon him, Alexander Grail, age tbirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 21, and Photographs, page 11.)

Christchurch.—l2th instant, that a summons for boarding a moving train may be served upon him, John Morgan Nixon, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 4|in., tailor and cook, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; fond of drink.

Christchurch.—loth instant, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failing to report for camp), Cornelius Sugrue, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, stout build, fresh complexion, curly brown hair ; usually dressed in dark clothes and cap. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Christchurch.—loth January last, that a summons to establish the paternity of Mary Skelton’s illegitimate child may be served upon him, John Courtney, age twentynine, height 5 ft. 10£in., labourer, native of Scotland, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Palmerston South.—27th ultimo, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failing to report for camp), Francis Collins, age about twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 8 in., shepherd, native of New Zealand, medium build, freckled complexion, reddish-brown hair, blue eyes, high cheek-bones; slightly stooped, quiet manner. He may be in posession of a bay horse and two black or dark-coloured sheep-dogs. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Palmerston South.—22nd ultimo, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failing to report for camp), Patrick Collins, age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., shepherd, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, small features, receding chin ; erect gait; fond of drink. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Dunedin, —On or about the 16th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £4, the property of Edward Dyer, 2 First Avenue, Selwyn, North-east Valley, Bert Wilson (name probably fictitious), ago about seventeen, height about 5 ft. 6 in., slim build, fresh complexion, brown hair ; dressed in a grey knickerbocker suic aud cap. The above description is that of a youth who sold the bicycle to a second-hand dealer in Castle Street for £l.

Dunedin. —9th instant, that he may be compelled to pay £44 15s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of Margaret J. Switalli, an inmate of Caversham Industrial School, August Switalli, age fifty, height 5 ft. 6£in., labourer, native of Germany, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, dark-brown eyes.
