Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— lßth ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Waimana,” Joseph R. Stewart, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., trimmer, native of England, medium build, dark hair and complexion, hazel eyes; usually dressed in a blue-serge suit and cap.
Auckland.— 6th ultimo, that he may be served with two summonses for breaches of his prohibition order, Charles Haughey, age fifty-eight, height 5 ft. 4£in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, sallow complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, decayed teeth ; erect, smart gait. Auckland. —2Bth ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Frederick Oswald Sakey, age twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 8 in., carpenter, native of Australia, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, light-blue eyes, dimple in each cheek. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s office, Auckland. Complainant, Gladys Sakey, 92 Franklin Road. (See Police Gazette, 1916, pages 397 and 735.)
Hamilton. —2lst Ootober last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, George Rashleigh, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 6in., painter and photographer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, grey eyes, clean-shaved ; smart appearance. Complainant, Elsie May Rashleigh, Ngaruawabia. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 412.)
Patea. —29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his six children, Thomas Joseph Spalding, age thirtyfour, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and milker, native of New Zealand, medium build, swarthy complexion, dark-brown hair and eyes, black moustache. Arrears to 25th ultimo, £79 10s. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 112.)
Carterton.— 6th October last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £lO 10s. fine and costs for selling by auction without being the holder of an auctioneer’s license, John Samuels, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., auctioneer, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, clean-shaved ; usually well dressed in dark clothes; Jewish appearance. He sells cheap jewellery and soft goods by auction.
Wellington. —2lst September last, on warrant for theft of a rolled-gold watch and chain and sovereign pendant (chain recovered), total value £l2, identifiable, the property of George Cooke, 2 Garrett Street, Robert Carlton Gray, alias Robert Gray, alias Leonard Parker, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. £ in., racecourse guepser, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, clasped hands, two small crosses and “ True
Love,” on left wrist, ring on left middle finger ; usually dressed in a light-tweed sac suit and light soft-felt hat. The articles were stolen from a bedroom in Chavanne’s Hotel, Wanganui. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 824.)
Dunedin. —3lst October last on warrant for theft of three rugs (recovered), value £1 75., the property of W. Ginsberg and Co., Arcade and Maclaggan Street, Hope Michael, alias Harry Thompson, alias Walter Dunn, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, burn-scar on left arm ; usually dressed in a blue suit and blaok hard hat. Dunedin. —2nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for being drunk while in charge of a horse and vehicle, Janies Gunn Leckie, age thirty-nine, height sft. 6in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-browu hair, hazel eyes, broad nose, dark moustache ; dots on right wrist; “ J.L.,” anchor, and dots on left wrist; portion of right little finger missing ; usually dressed in a dark suit. Invercargill.— 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Andrew Lee, age twentyfive, height about 5 ft. 7 in., painter and coachbuilder, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair and eyes, clean-shaved; usually dressed in a brown sac suit and cap or slouch hat ; fond of drink. Complainant, Mary Ann Jane Spence (now Mrs. D. Brown), 133 Leet Street. Arrears to Ist ultimo, £23 15s. 6d.
