Accused obtained £22 10s. from the Auckland Patriotic Association by falsely representing that he was a General Staff Officer in the Australian Imperial Forces. He may be identical with Edgar John Clough, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 175.

Auckland.— lßth March last, on warrant of commit ment to Auckland Prison for forty eight hours in default of paying Bs. 6d. costs for drunkenness, William Milne, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. in., fireman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, light brown hair, hazel eyes; clasped hands, flag, heart, Nellie, and scar on right forearm; scar at right side of mouth. Tolaga Bay.— 2sth April last, on warrant of commitment to Gisborne Prison for three months in default of paying £25 15s. fine and costs for supplying liquor to a Native, George Evans, age sixty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., hairdresser, native of Australia, sallow complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, full face ; usually dressed in a dark suit and black hard bat, and carries a walking-stick; walks with a stoop; fond of drink. Gisborne. —26th April last, on warrant for theft of a sheep-dog (recovered), value £ls, the property of Thomas Graham Mulcaster, farmer, Manutuke, Man (name unknown), age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, reddish complexion, dark hair ; dressed in a grey suit and soft-felt light-coloured hat. Accused stole the dog from Matawhero, and sold it to Arthur Langford, livery-stable proprietor, Gisborne, for £l.

Opunake. —2lst ultimo, on warrant for theft of two bicyole-tire3 and two bicycle-tire tubes (recovered), and £2 in money, total value £3 10s., the property of Albeit Bird, Te Kiri, Charles Cordon McLeod, age sixteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes; usually dressed in a grey knickerbocker suit and cap. He may have a bioycle with him.

Wanganui. —24th April last, on warrant for false pretences, Gordon Graham, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 9in., bushman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, large eyes ; walks with a stoop. Accused obtained £ls from George Swan, Ohavannes Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. The cheque was signed “A. Pearce.” There are other charges pending.

Masterton. —2Bth ultimo, on warrant for assaulting David Laughlan, Joseph Taylor, age about thirty-nine, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, medium build, dark hair and complexion, scald-scar or birth-mark on face; usually dressed in a dark suit, soft-felt hat, and dark overcoat. Complainant was in bed in a boardinghouse at Waingawa freezing-works when accused, who was drunk, went into the room and committed the assault by striking and biting him.

Wellington. —9th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Margaret Elizabeth MoFarlane, Duncan McFarlane, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 9$ in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, scroll with “ Death before Dishonour ” on it and pierced heart on right arm, two scars on left shin. Wellington. —lßth April last, that a summons for supplying liquor to a soldier for consumption elsewhere than on the premises where it was supplied may be served upon him, John Heywood (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 10 in., native of Ireland, strong build, dark hair and complexion; usually dressed in a dark-blue shabby suit and soft-felt grey hat.

Lower Riccarton. —lsth ultimo, for indecently exposing himself in Hagley Park, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slim build, pale complexion ; well-dressed in a dark-brown suit (coat long with turned-up cuffs), and dark-grey cap. He was riding an old bicycle. Complainant, Mary Elizabeth Jane Hunter, 30 Mayfair Street. No warrant.

Christchurch. —6th instant, on warrant for failing to make adequate provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, George Henry Thomas Warner, age thirty, height 5 ft. 11 in., medium build, dark hair and complexion, dark-blue eyes, good teeth, turned-up chin, thin features; usually well dressed in dark clothes, black hard hat, and black boots. He was until recently employed as foreman by the Neuchatel Asphalte Company, Wellington. Complainant, Margaret Leathwick, 95 Olliver’s Road, Linwood.

Dunedin. —14th April last, that a summons for assisting a prohibited person to drink liquor may be served upon him, Harold Glanville, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9|in., native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexiou, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit, and may be wearing a military overcoat.
