Newton. —Between the 6th and Bth instant the City Supply Stores premises in Karangahape Road was broken into, and the following articles, the property of HANSEL M. WADE, stolen therefrom: A brass cornet, with three double water-keys ; a music-holder attached, and “ Groham ” or “Lamy, makers, London,” on it; value, £3 103. Identification doubtful.

Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in a dark suit and felt hat. Believed to be an aboriginal.

Upper Hutt. —loth instant, the cottage of SERGEANT MAJOR GEARING at Trentham was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom: A gentlemen’s silver open-face English lever watch, with a small chip out of dial; a gentlemen’s silver open-face eight-day Swiss watch ; a silver curb watch-chain; a silver curb fetter-and-oval double watch-chain; a greenstone-bar brooch with “ N.Z.” in gold on it (fastener broken); an electrio tube torch ; a

pair of brown trousers, with “Milligan, Wellington” on buttons; a grey sac coat, with “ R. Bennett, Dunedin,” on tab; a brown overcoat; a pair of gentlemen’s black boots, size 9 ; three £1 notes and 15s. in silver money : total value, £ls 14s. Identifiable except money.

Handley ” on inside ; a 9 ot. gold small-link watch-chain, about 5 ft. long ; a gold knife bangle, set with five pink tourmalines and between twenty-four and thirty small pearls, with a small gold chain attaohed; a gold flat bangle, with pearls and rubies in half-moon and star settings (one pearl missing) ; a 9ct. gold double-bar brooch, set with a diamond-shaped amethyst in centre, and a gold leaf on each side: the property of LOUISA MILES: total value, £22 65.: identifiable. A gold-mounted black-ribbon watch-guard, with a shield in centre, with N.Z. A.M. 14.8.09 ” engraved on it, and a gold heart locket attached with “ A.H.M.” engraved on it, containing a photo and lock of hair; a goldcased sovereign-case, with “ Guaranteed to wear 20 years ” on inside : the property of ARTHUR HERBERT MILES : total value, £5 155.: identifiable. Wellington. —lst instant, from a bedroom in the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, the property of JAMES ANDERSON MOORE, Pahiatua, a gentlemen’s silver open-face Rotherhams watch; a9ct. gold fetter-and oval watch-chain, with a silver match-box pendant with “J.A.M.” on it and a pointed greenstone pendant attached : total value, £8 15s.
