Te Awamutu.— lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breaoh of his prohibition order, Darcy Knight, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a blue suit and cap and black laoe-up boots. Hamilton. —12th instant, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Harry Burnand (name probably fictitious), age about forty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., ex-soldier, native of New Zealand, slight build, florid oomplexion, fair hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a dark suit and straw hat; smart appearance ; fond of drink. He is accompanied by a woman who is said to be his wife. Accused forged the name of J. Hammond to a cheque for £5, and uttered it to Charles Trigg, hotelkeeper, Hamilton East. There are other similar charges pending.

Napier. —lßth instant, on warrant for deserting from the troopship “lonic,” Robert Brassel, age about thirtyfour, height about sft. 7 in., fireman, supposed native of England, supposed curly brown hair, cast in each eye. Accused deserted from the ship at Wellington.

Hastings.— 7th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Andrew Bergersen, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes; small scar on forehead; scar on left forearm, on left palm, and on right middle finger ; usually dressed in a greentweed suit and soft black-felt hat. Woodville. —10th jinstant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, James Joseph Murphy, age fifty-two, height about 5 ft. Bin., farmer, native of Ireland, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair ; usually dressed in a grey sac suit and soft-felt hat; fond of drink. Complainant, Josephine Murphy.

Wellington.— 29th November, 1915, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for playing “ hazards,” Claude Paterson, age forty, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer and storeman, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes. Mount Cook. —9th instant, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) one month in default of paying £25 135., and (2) two months in default of paying £sl 35., fines and costs for sly-grog selling, Alexander Lindsay, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., cable-repairer and hawker, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, dark-brown eyes, scar on left cheek and under left jaw, two moles on back, first joint of left middle finger missing. Christchurch. —30th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, George Thomas Batley, age forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., jeweller, native of New Zealand, slight build, florid complexion, light-brown hair, large blue eyes,; usually dressed in a brown suit, black boots, and softfelt hat; wears a diamond ring; fond of drink and horseracing. He may be accompanied by Alice Marquet, age twenty-one, medium height, slight build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, operation-scar on throat; usually dressed in a fawn-coloured costume, white-silk blouse, navy-blue, sailor hat, and black suede shoes. Accused is said to be in Melbourne. Extradition expenses are guaranteed. Complainant, Ettie Batley, Sydenham.
