INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Sydney (New South Wales). —18th February last. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Arthur Charles Balding for deserting his wife Lydia Mary Balding, 50 Flinders Street, Darlinghurst. Description: Age thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., shearer, stout build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, gold teeth in front ; usually dressed in a grey suit and brown soft-felt hat; fond of drink. If located, he is not to be arrested, but an effort is to be made to induce him to provide for his wife. (P. 16/320.)
Sydney (New South Wales). George William Geggie, theft: A provisional warrant has been issued for the arrest of accused, who was seen in Wellington on the 18th October, 1915, and the 28th ultimo. He may be travelling for some firm, and may be calling at Wellington periodically in the exercise of his profession. He can be identified by Mr. Spencer, manager for the Wellington branch of the Nestle and Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 726.)
Sydney (New South Wales).—Bth instant. Special inquiry is requested with a view to tracing the murderer of George Pappageorgi, who was murdered at Sydney on the sth instant. The cash-register was broken open, and the following stolen therefrom : A plain gold bangle about £ in. wide, “Molly Pitman ” engraved on it, with two small gold chains (one a very small link safety chain with small gold padlock) attached. This article, if traced, may form a most
important clue. Any information regarding this matter is to be telegraphed to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington. (P. 16/515.)
Darlinghurst (New South Wales). —29th ultimo, a warrant has been issued by the Water Police Bench for the arrest of John Collman, charged with disobeying a Magisterial order for the support of his wife (£34 6s. due). He is fifty-nine years of age, height 6ft., stout build, dark hair turning grey, clean-shaved : dresses well; a commercial traveller; usually in the wool line, now said to be in New Zealand and travelling for a firm whose head office is in Wanganui. If located, communioate with Commissioner of Police, Wellington. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1916, page 177.)
