Hamilton. —Ist ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £1 15s. Ane and costs for obscene language, Patrick Lynch, age thirty-Ave, height about 5 fd. Bin,, labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; fond of drink. He is probably identioal with Patrick Lynch, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 191.
Hamilton. —2lst July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Alfred Davitt, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, auburn hair, hazel eyes, left forefinger missing. Hamilton. —4th August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 fine and costs for a breach of the peace, Arthur Newport, age forty, height 6 ft. lin., farmer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair going bald, grey eyes.
Waipawa.—lsth ultimo, that two summonses may be served upon him for breaches of his prohibition order, Frank Cosgrove, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 10in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 387.)
Stratford.— l7th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to military custody for twenty-eight days in default of paying £4 10s. fine and costs for a breach of the Defence Act, Edward Lawrence Goodwin, age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 3in., stableman and plumber, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion. He may be found working at some racing or livery stable.
Stratford. —4th instant, that a copy of a minute of order under the Destitute Persons Act may be served upon him, William Smith, age sixty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, bald; suffers from rheumatism; walks with a stoop; fond of drink. Inquiry at the instance of the Education Department. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 144.)
Stratford.— 4th instant, that he may be compelled to maintain his two illegitimate children, inmates of the Auckland Industrial School, Walter William Alfred Bates, age forty-one, height sfs. 7Jin., labourer, native of Australia, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 199.)
Napier.—sth instant, that he may be compelled to maintain his illegitimate child, an inmate of the Caversham Industrial School, Thomas Lucas, age about forty-five, labourer, good build, dark-brown hair, blue eyes; usually well dressed, and frequents race meetings. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 368.)
Napier.— Oswald Godfrey Taylor, default of fine and costs, has been located by the Tolaga Bay police. The Magistrate ordered the warrant to be held over, as accused expressed his intention of joining the reinforcements. No further action is therefore to be taken at present. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 160.)
Palmerston North. —2oth July last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for six months in default of paying £2 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife and child, Campbell Stewart, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, dark complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, mark above right eye ; walks with a stoop.
Palmerston North.— 26th April last, that particulars regarding the paternity of her child, an inmate of the Wellington Receiving Home, may be obtained, Eva Yerchild, age twenty, height about 5 fc. 3 in., domestic, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department.
Palmerston North.—9th August last, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) one month in default of paying £2 fine for obscene language, and (2) fourteen days in default of paving £1 ss. fine and costs for resisting police, Ernest Cox, age thirty three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, broken nose which is enlarged on right ride ; slovenly appearance ; fond of drink.
Otaki.— 29th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £4 3s. fine and costs for diunkenness, James Register, alias Williams, age thirty-six, knight 5 ft. 9£in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Wellington. —sth instant, that she may be compelled to maintain her son, an inmate of the Wellington Receiving Home, Elsie Pauline Watson, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 2 in., domestic, native of Australia, slight build, fair complexion, dark hair, brown eyes; wears glasses. Wellington.— 2sth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Joseph Greene, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 3 in., butcher, supposed native of England, stout build, fair hair and complexion, operation-scar on left side of abdomen. Accused obtained £25 from Lazarus Wolf Balkind, draper and money-lender, by falsely representing that the furniture in the bouse in which he was living was his own property. He is said to have assumed the name Haines.
Wellington— 23rd ultimo, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Rimutaka,” Thomas Flemwell, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., trimmer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, burn-scars on face and chin, cross and dots on right arm.
Wellington.—23rd ultimo, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Rimutaka,” W. Henson, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., fireman, native of Russia, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, protruding lips.

Westport. —2lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for one month in default of paying £l2 7s. 6d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of bis illegitimate child, William Kelly, age twentyeight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, round features; pleasant appearance.
Christchurch. —3oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison in default of finding security to ensure his obedience to a maintenance order for the support of bis illegitimate child, Edward Gatenby Hopkins, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., farm-manager, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, black hair, grey eyes, heavy eyebrows, scar over right eye. Christchurch. —31st August last, for theft of a gentleman’s bicycle (recovered), value £3, the property of Noel Victor Elmsly, W. McEwen (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-seven, height sft. Sin., strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, round face. The name is that given by a man who sold the bicycle to a second-hand dealer for £1 ss. No warrant.
Dunedin.— Bth January, 1913, that be may be compelled to maintain his illegitimate child, Madge Pope, an inmate of the Caversham Industrial School, George Anderson, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 6 in., steward, native of
Australia, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, darkblue eyes, slightly stooped, tatooing on both arms. He may be employed on one of the Union Steamship Company’s boats. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department.
Dunedin.— 3rd August, 1914, on warrant of commitment to military custody for twenty-eight days in default of paying £5 10s. fine and costs for a breach of the Defence Act, James Cummings Fraser, age twenty-two, height 5 fO. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, grey eyes, two front teeth missing ; fond of drink.
