Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —9th instant, for deserting the foreign ship “ Pram,” Jens P. Andersen, seaman, native of Denmark, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., round pleasant face, brown hair, blue eyes, brown moustache, prominent teeth, ship on chest, both arms tattooed. No warrant.

Auckland. watch and chain (recovered), value £3 7s. 6d., the property of Ernest Medland, Thomas Rowe, alias Williams, bootmaker, native of New Zealand, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 3Jin., sallow complexion, black hair, hazel eyes, one lower tooth missing. Bth July last, on warrant for failing to provide adequate maintenance for his illegitimate children, James Turmell, labourer, native of France, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. 4 in., medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes; “ A.T. -f,” anchor, “L.F.A.,”and “ L.T.” on left wrist; half-moon on back of left hand. Complainant, Lucy Wood, Marmion Street.

Auckland. —12th instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months for cruelly ill-treating a dog, J. H. Styles, farmer, native of America, age fifty, height 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved.

Auckland. —14th instant, on warrant for having without reasonable cause failed to provide adequate maintenance for his illegitimate child, Bert Kemp, cook, native of New Zealand, age twenty-two, height 5 fc. 8 in., slight build, fair complexion, lig'nt-brown hair, clean-shaved, dimple in chin ; usually dressed in dark-grey suit and hard hat; good address ; smart appearance. Complainant, Grace Bailer, 27 Liverpool Street.

Ohakune. — 11th instaut, on warrant for theft of £9 3s. 2d., the property of Leslie May, Arthur Potter, labourer, native of New Zealand, age about twenty-eight, height about sft. sin., slight build, pale complexion, dark hair. Accused was employed by the Public Works Department at Ohakune. He came to Wellington and drew £9 3s. 2d. from the Department for wages due to him and returned to where he was working and again drew the amount there.

Napier.— 22nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, John Bielby, tailor, native of England, age forty, height 5 ft. 6{] in., stout strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. Wanganui. —About Ist instant, on warrant for false pretences, Herbert P. Percy, alias Pearce, supposed labourer, native of New Zealand,, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., dark complexion, hair, and eyes, clean-shaved; usually dressed in dark-tweed suit, grey scarf, motor-over-coat, and felt hat; smart appearance. Accused obtained £lO from Imlay Bailey George Saunders by falsely representing that he possessed a farm near Masterton, and had cattle being brought to Wanganui. He gave Saunders an order on Messrs. Abrahams and Williams for the amount, but they refused to cash it, as the accused was not known to them. There are other charges pending. He may be identical with H. R. Percy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1913, page 2.

Carterton. —25th July last, on warrant for theft of 65., the property of Ernest Andrew Patrick, Harry Pickering, driver and ex-jockey, native of New Zealand, age thirty-two, height about 5 ft. 4 in,, slight build, thin features, fair complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved ; slovenly appearance. Accused received the amount from Frank May Reynolds on terms requiring him to account for the same to his employer, but failed to do so. There are other charges pending.

Wellington. —2nd June last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £6 13s. fine and costs for obscene language, Andrew Walters, alias E. W. Waters, horse-trainer, native of New Zealand, age fifty, height 5 ft. in., medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; fond of drink. He is commonly known by the name “ Tin Can Jack.” (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 440.)

Wellington. —l7th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days for having failed to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Alfred John Lacey, painter, native of New Zealand, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 3Jin., medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown bair, blue eyes. Arrears to 11th May last, £6. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 554.)

Wellington.— sth instant, on warrant for false pretences, Frederick W. Browne, confectioner and engineer, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, tanned complexion, black hair, large dark eyes, clean-shaved, large teeth which he shows when talking ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and hard black hat. Accused obtained £3O from Arthur John Hoare by falsely representing that he was the absolute owner of certain chattels—viz., a lamp, a showblind, a door-mat, carpet, oilcloth, chairs, tables, shop furnishings, &c. ; and that such were unencumbered, whereas in fact one A. Atkinson held a bill of sale for £6O over the said articles.

Wellington.—Bth instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days for having failed to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Donald Tasman Stewart, age twenty-five, height sft. 4 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, He is supposed to have gone with the Expeditionary Force to Samoa. Arrears to Ist June last £8 3s. 6d.

Wellington. —lst instant, on warrant for theft of a cornet, value £l6 16s. (recovered), the property of George Smith, secretary of the Wellington Waterside Workers’

Band, Charles Henderson, bootmaker, native of New Zealand, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair. He may be found with Barton’s Circus. Accused pledged the cornet at Fruhauf’s pawn office, where he gave the name F. Goodall.

Wellington. —24th June last, on Warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Bartholomew Mahoney, labourer and blindmaker, native of Ireland, age forty-three, height 5 ft.
