Subscriptions towards Cost of Expeditionary Force. The total amount which has been received from members of the Police Force in each district as subscriptions towards the cost of the Expeditionary Force is as under:—
The following memorandum relative thereto, which has been addressed by the Right Hon. the Prime Minister to the Hon. the Minister of Justice, is published for general information : I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your memorandum of the 19th August, forwarding one from the Commissioner of Police stating that the officers of his Department have subscribed the sum of £658 18s. 6d. towards the expenses of the Expeditionary Force. An acknowledgment of the donation has been made in the Press. Will you now kindly convey to the members of the Force the hearty thanks of the Government for their splendid contribution, which is gratefully aocepted. W. F. Massey. The Hon. the Minister of Justice desires me to convey to members of the Force his appreciation of their generosity and fine display of public spirit, and I may add that I am very pleased with the splendid response which has been made by members of the Force of all ranks to the appeal for contributions to this fund.
