INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Adelaide (South Australia). —A warrant has been issued at Adelaide for the arrest of John William Cowin, otherwise Jack Cowin, described as twenty-seven \ears of age, sfc. lOin. or sft. 11 in. high, strong build, fair freckled complexion, clean shaven, light-brown hair (inclined to curl), blue eyes, long nose, square shoulders (stooped) ; slightly bandy ; one gold tooth in left side of top jaw ; was employed as a labourer in a furniture-factory ; wore a brown squarecut sac suit, light-green mackintosh overcoat, and brown soft-felt hat; has an aunt residing at St. Louis, Mauritius ; charged that on the 2nd July, 1914, at Adelaide, a certain revolver, then loaded with gunpowder and leaden shot, at one Anastasia Ellen Rattigan, feloniously and maliciously did shoot with intent thereby, then feloniously, wilfully, and of bis malice aforethought, the said Anastasia Ellen RatCgan to kill and murder. Note.— At about 6 p.m. on the 2nd instant Miss Rattigan was proceeding along King William Street South, Adelaide, with three girl companions, and when near South Terrace offender was noticed by one of ihe young girls to flourish a revolver and fire three shots at Miss Rattigan. She fell to the ground, and was subsequently taken to the Adelaide Hospital, where she now lies in a serious condition. Arrest very desirable. Hobart (Tasmania). —Ii quiry is requested for George Eberle, bootmaker, native of Germany, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in,, stout erect build, fair complexion, darkbrown hair, large grey eyes, long face, sandy moustache, thin lips, good teeth ; usually dresses in dark clothes and felt hat. Last heard of at New Plymouth in March, 1912. He is identical with George Eberlie, Tasmanian Photographs, 1910, No. 743 b. Inquiry by Louisa Eberle, 60 Patrick Street. (P. 14/1011.)
Johannesburg (South Africa). —Inquiry is requested for Marcus Segall, alias Leveton, native of Russia, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., Jewish features, fair complexion and hair, brown eyes, gold teeth in front ; very sickly ; educated in America ; a great reader. He is said to be in this Dominion. (P. 14/974.)
