PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —Since 7tli October, 1910, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the maintenance of his brother, an inmate of the Weraroa Training Farm, John Harris, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 3 in., driver and jockey, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, clean-shaven ; fond of drink.

Auckland. 23rd ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Arthur Lawrence Wilkes, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10in., labourer, native of New Zealand, broad build, fair complexion, brown hair (very thick in front), hazel eyes; very erect walk. He is supposed to be in the King-country. Complainant, Alice Wilkes, care of Mrs. Henderson, Fleet Street, Devonport, Auckland.

Auckland. sth March last, on warrant for forgery, Keith Russell Jones, alias Thomas, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6J in., canvasser, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, long wavy light-brown hair parted in centre, clean-shaven, two small scars on left thumb. Accused forged the name of L. W. Meuli as an endorsement to a cheque for £lO on the Bank of New Zealand, Manaia. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 482, and Photographs, page 47.)

Auckland. — On or about the 20th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a single-stone diamond ring, claw-set, value £SO, the property of Edwin Oxley, hawker, Orey Street, G. Mackay, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., plumber and hawker, native of Australia, strong build; shabbily dressed ; fond of drink.

Newton. —28th ultimo, for assaulting Gwendoline Leather, dressmaker, in Crumner Road, Grey Lynn, and causing her actual bodily harm, Man (name unknown), no description obtainable. Accused attempted to strangle complainant, and stole her handbag, which contained a small leather purse, which was empty. A thick-set man of rough appearance, about 5 ft. 8 in. in height, passed complainant a few minutes before she was assaulted. A large cart-spanner was found near the spot where the assault took place.

Newton. —24th February last, on warrant for false pretences, A. J. Carter, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, fair hair and complexion. Accused obtained a gold wristlet watch and a gold bracelet valued at £6 10s. from Herman Bruno Fisher, jeweller, Karangahape Road, by falsely representing that he was employed as an enginedriver on the Main Trunk line. He is probably identical with Harold Carter, alias Barnaby, referred to in Police Gazette, 1914, page 335, and subsequent paragraph.)

Pukekohe. — 7th April last, on warrant for false pretences, Kenny McLeod (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, labourer, native of New Zealand, erect walk, slow speech. He said he was an engine-driver on the railway. Accused obtained £3 from Adam Parke Horne, storekeeper, Buckland, by falsely representing that he had purchased a farm in that district and was coming to live there. He is supposed to be identical with Harold Carter, alias Barnaby, referred to in Police Gazette, 1914, page 335, and preceding paragraph).

Ellerslie— 2lst ultimo, on warrant for assaulting Eliza Ellen Cook, Kohimaramara, with intent to rob her, Man (uame unknown), age twenty to twenty-two, height about 5 ft. lin., thin build, sallow complexion, dark hair and eyes ; dressed in a dark suit with crescent-shaped pockets, and wearing a black beaver Dr. Jim hat and a white-silk handkerchief round his neck.

Taumarunui.—26th ultimo, that summonses may be served on him for threatening behaviour and a breach of his prohibition order, Alexander Bishop, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., plumber, native of New Zealand, stout build, tanned complexion, grey eyes, scar on nose ; stoops slightly ; a great football-player. Hastings. —Since about the Bth ultimo, that she may be served with a copy of a maintenance order for the support of her daughter in Sc. Mary’s Industrial School, Auckland, Margaret Lange, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., cook, native of Ireland, very stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair and eyes ; usually dressed in a grey or navy-blue costume and a large black hat. She may assume the name Allan, and may be in company with James 11. E. Tyson, age about forty, height about 6 ft., butcher, dark hair and complexion, brown moustache.

Marton. —2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for six weeks in default of paying £5 12s. 6d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Sydney Hendricks, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4J in., printer and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, large grey eyes, scar at base of right thumb ; dressed in a blue suit and grey oap; walks with a slight limp. Feilding. —27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Albert Joseph Doble, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. lOj in., iivery-staule keeper, native of New Zealand, well built, dark complexion, darx curly hair, sharp hazel eyes, upper teeth false, small scar in one nostril; usually dressed in light-tweed suit at d light-felt hat. He is a good boxer and snearer, and can diive a motor-car. He may be accompanied by a woman named Eotea Louisa White, tall and dark, of Jewish appearance. Complainant, Louisa Emily Eva Doble, care of J. R. Graham, solicitor, Feilding.

Levin. —14th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Palmerston North Police-gaol for seven dayH each in default of paying £3, amount of fines and costs for two breaches of his prohibition order, Charles Olsen, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 7J m., seaman and fLx cutter, native of German) , fair complexion, light brown hair turning grey, hazel eyes ; quarrelsome and talkative when drinking. Levin. —llth March last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife and children, Walter John Harris, age thirty, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, clean-shaven; quiet manner. He may assume the name Terry, and obtain employment as btograph-operator. Complainant, Harriet Martha Harris, Levin.

Wellington.— 4th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for a breach of his prohibition order, William Black, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 7 in., seaman, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complex on, brown hair, blue eyes ; right leg artificial.

Wellington. —That an order may be made asainst him for the maintenance of his mother, Frederick Henry Purcell, age twenty-four, height about 6 ft., sailor, native

of New Zealand, thin build, clean-shaven, dark-brown curly hair, two burn-scars on back of neck, front teeth decayed. He was last heard of in Wellington about two years ago.

Wellington. —7th ultimo, on warrant for intending to leave the Dominion without making adequate provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, William Carlton Christian, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., painter, chauffeur, and barman, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, upper front teeth gold-filled ; a heavy cigarette smoker. He wears a mohair watch-guard with a gold shield engraved “ W.C C.” Complainant, May Alexander, care of Ryan and Dickson, solicitors, Wellington.

Greymouth.—2nd ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, William Rathbon, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 6 m., carpenter, native of England, slight build, sallow complexion, fair hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a grey suit; delicate appearance. Complainant, Deborah Jane Rathbon, Napier.

Denniston.— llth ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for failing to maintain his wife and family, Jeremiah McCarthy, age forty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Scotland, thin build, heavy fair moustache, dark eyes, high forehead, very thin build ; quiet manner. He is supposed to have gone to Sydney. Complainant, Annie Chambers, 552 Madras Street, Christchurch.

Christchurch.— 2lst November last, on warrant for bigamy, Ellen Hawthorne, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 4Jin., prostitute, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, sharp nose. Accused went through the form of marriage with George Lake. She will probably be in his company; his description is as follows: Age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slim build, pale complexion, narrow face, brown hair, tattoo marks on arms ; dressed in a dark suit and cap. Oamaru. —3rd November last, on warrant of commitment to miliiary custody for fourteen days in default of paving £1 3s. fine and costs for a breach of the Defence Act, Vincent Roper, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., painter, naive of New Zealand, strong build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved; usually dressed in brown suit and soft hat.

Dunedin. —14th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Donald McPherson, age twentv-four, height about sft. 4in., me ium build, dark complexion, black hair, blue-grey eyes, black moustache. He wears a small gold ring on his left little finger. He is usually dressed in a blue suit, and seldom wears a vest. Complainant, Lucy Mary Perrin, care of Crown Hotel, Naseby.

Dunedin.— 30th July last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for six weeks in default of paying £lO 14s. 4d. arrenrs due on a maintenance order for the support of his brother, James Riddle, alias John Watson, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. Bin., painter and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, light-brown eves, scar on right fore and middle fingers, (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 572.)
