PROPERTY STOLEN.
Russell. — Between the 28th ultimo and the 6th instant, from the dwelling of WILLIAM HODGESON, fisherman, a gold bar brocch ; a gold double-bar brooch, with bird in centre; and a piece of white silk: total value, £2 15s. Brooches identifiable.
Auckland. —29th ultimo, from a clothes-line at the Ladies’ College, Remuera, the property of SARAH MOORE-JONES, five women’s singlets, five chemises, twenty-four nightdresses, twenty-one slip-bodices, twenty-three pairs of knickers, two piilow-slips, six sheets, ten towels ; total value, £25. Some identifiable. All the articles are marked with ink. They have the following names on them : S. Harding, Dorothy Forde, E. Robinson, M. Wallace, R. Hawkins, &c.
Auckland. — Bth instant, while on transit between WhaBgarei and Dargaville, the property of L. D. NATHAN AND 00., Auckland, a lady’s open-faced nickel watch; a lady’s open-faced silver keyless watch, heart-shaped dial; a gentleman’s nickel keyless open-faced watch ; a gentleman's silver hunting keyless Omega watch ; a gentleman’s open-faced keyless nickel watch, “ Accurate ”on dial, ‘‘Connecticut Watch Coy.” inside: total value, £3 17s. Identification doubtful.
Auckland. - Between 2 p.m, and 5 p.m. on the 16th instant the dwelling of MING LOCK, gardener, Tamaki West, was broken into, and the following articles stolen : A. gentleman’s 9 ct. gold-plain band ring, set with three opals, similar to pattern No. 79 in Police. Gazette illustrations, 1911, page 6; a gentleman’s 9ct. gold ring, claw-set with a single stone, imitation diamond, similar to pattern No. 95 in Police Gazette illustrations, 1911, page 6; agentleman’s new umbrella with crooked bone a gentleman’s white silk handkerchief; and about 10s. in silver : total value, £5 12s. Identifiable except money.
Auckland. — 22nd ultimo, from the person of MARY E. CAMPBELL, Putaruru, Rotorua, a lady’s open-face gold keyless Geneva watch, No. 18 1 208, and a long gold mufichain, sixty years old ; total value, £ll 10s. Identifiable.
Auckland.— Between 9.30 p.m. on the Ist and 7 a.m. on the 2nd instants, St. Marv’s Convent, Hobson Street, was broken into, and a lady’s silver open-face key-winding watch stolen, value £2, the property of SISTER MARY MALAGHY, owner’s name scratched inside case, glass cracked.
Newmarket. Craig's Coal-yard, the property of WALTER WILSON, labourer, a gentleman’s silver hunting Elgin watch, No. 4164878/16281614, “ 4737 ” scratched inside; and a gold-washed chain, similar to No. 28 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2: total value, £4 10s. Identifiable.
Ponsonby. —Between 4 p.m. on the 28th February and 4 p m. on the Ist March last the Richmond Rowing Club’s sheds at Sloans Beach were broken into, and the following articles st len: An almo-4-new very dark dusty grey tailormaae coat and vest, maker's name “ Martin, Katangahape Rd», Auckland,” will prooablv be written on tab, valued at £4, the property of WILLIAM SINCLAIR ; an open-face gun-metal watch with smali old silver chain attached, a small pig-skin purse, a'd 3s. Bd. in money, total value 14s. Bd., t. e property of NORMAN SINCLAIR; £2 5-u in gold and silver, the property of JAMES McsWEENEY; a pair of blue-serge trousers and £2 in gold and silver, the property of EDWARD MCCARTHY, total value, £3 ss. Identifiable except money and watch. Suspicion is attached to William John Davidson, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose. Grey Lynn. —lst instant, from a house in the course of erection in Selbourne Road, the property of RICHARD THOMAS, carpenter, a gentleman’s open-face silver watch, “Herbert Sinclair” engraved on back; value, £5 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Leonard Colville, an imbecile, who has been interviewed by the police without result.
Thames. — Man (name unknown), breaking, entering, and theft from the dwelling of Stanley Ayling: Leslie Lionel Grant, George Augustus Smith, Albert Harwood Billing, and Frederick Spencer have been arrested for this offence by the Tnames police. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 290.)
Hamilton, —Bth instant, from outside the Public Library, the property of TPIOMAS ROLAND BLACKMAN, a Phillips Special bicycle, No. 5220, Michelin tire on back wheel, upturned handles, leather grips, acetylene-lamp; value, £3 12s. 6d. Identifiable.
Hamilton. Library, the property of CHARLES HAGGIE, a gentleman’s Victor bicycle, No. 45589, Dunlop tires; value, £9 10s. Identifiable.
Hamilton. —6th instant, from outside Rogers and Stace’s office in Victoria Street, the property of M. GRIFFITHS, land agent, a gentleman’s new bicycle, Harp Bros., makers, reversible handles, “ Popular ” saddle ; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.
Tauranga. —On or about the sth ultimo, from a shed on complainant’s farm, the property of CLEMENT W. CLARK, a new Laidlaw Leeds saddle, knee and thigh pads, nickel mounts, a blue saddle-cloth, and a leather girth; total value, £5. Identifiable.
Ongarue, —THOMAS WILL’S stolen watch : It has been ascertained that this watch is a plain double case keyless one, and not open - faced. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 265.)
Te Kuiti. —Between the 25th and 27th March last, from the dwelling of PERCY NIELD, sawmill hand, Mangapeebi, a gentleman’s double-case silver watch; a 15ct. gold chain, with a Masonic pendant and a silver sovereign-case (containing a half-sovereign) attached: total value, £2O. Identifiable.
Wellington. —On or about the 6th instant, from the People’s Palace, the property of EMMA LOUISE CLEAR, Milford Road, Takapuna, a lady’s black morocco-leather handbag, about 10 in. by 8 in., containing two small leather purses and about £ls in money ; an old-fashioned oval gold brooch the size of a large teaspoon, set with a cluster of red stones (believed rubies or garnets), some large stones in centre, surrounded by quite a number of small ones: total value, £l6. Identification doubtful.
Manners Street. —9th ultimo, from outside the Wellington Cleaning Company’s premises in Dixon Street, the property of ALFRED JAMES SMITH, a gentleman’s Nonpareil bicycle, No. 2974, upturned handles, free wheel; value, £3. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —l2th ultimo, from St. Luke’s Church, Manchester Street, the property of ALBERT KENT, New Brigmon Road, Shirley, a gentleman’s Congreve bicycle, No. 1002, free wheel, upturned handles, leather grips ; value, £B. Identifiable.
Christchurch.—3lst March last, from WHITCOMBE AND TOOMBS'S cycle-stand, the property of the firm, a gentleman’s Kent bioyc e, No. 17122, free wneel, cable brake on back wheel; value, £ls. Identifiable.
Ashburton. —On or about the 7th instant, from complainant’s room at the Central Boardinghouse, the property of FRANK HARRIS, shop-assistant, five £1 notes and two or three sovereigns. Suspicion is attached to Robert McDonald, age about fifty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., wheelwright, native of Scotland, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, black moustacne.
Dunedin. —22nd ultimo, from outside the Public Library, the property of RICHARD ANDERSON CHISHOLM, student, a gentleman’s Ruby Special bicycle, No. 1296, free wheel; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Dunedin. —23rd. ultimo, from the dwelling of STEPHEN BATTERSBY, land agent, 543 George Street, a lady’s gold wristlet watcn, fastened to a collapsible bracelet, very small dial, plain white face, “ H.E.A.” on back of case, and also “ On her wedding-day, from the Scobie Mackenzie Family” ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Mataura.—On or about the 18th February last, from Bridge Street, the property of CHARLES JAMES McDOWELL, grocer’s assistant, Kana Street, a gentleman’s Gloria bicycle, rubber pedals, carrier on back wheel, short narrow handles,, grips turned in, Dunlop tires; value, £5. Identifiable.
Invercargill. —2Bth ultimo, from the dwelling of DAVID SHAW, carpenter, Elies Road, a gentleman’s silver hunting Rotherhams watch, No. 304319 ; value, £5 10s. Identifiable.
