Maungaturoto.—2oth November last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for ten days in default of paying £2 ss. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, William Thomas Jackson, alias Stonewall Jackson, age forty-three, height 5 ft. sJin., labourer, native of New Zealand, sandy complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, large nose. Palmerston North. —12th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Alfred Smith, age thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 4 in., cook and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, very thin features ; walks lame on right leg. Masterton. —29th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, L. G. Burton, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 10 in., supposed motor engineer, fair oomplexion curly hair, blue eyes, slight build; dressed in grey Norfolk suit, tan leggings, and soft-felt hat. Accused obtained £3 Is. from Katie Neilson, boardinghouse-keeper, by means of a valueless cheque on the Bank of New South Wales, Ashburton.

Wellington.—4th instant, on warrant for absconding from bail, Thomas Sheehan or Sheahan, age twentysix, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark-brown hair, clean-shaven; dressed in dark grey suit, soft shirt, and soft black hat; well educated ; addicted to drink; a prohibited person. Accused was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter.

Wellington. —6th February last, that she may be compelled to maintain her child in the Christchurch Receiving Home, Mabel Grace Pauling, age thirty-eight, height about 5 ft. 6 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, fair hair and complexion, blus eyes ; usually dressed in dark clothes. She was supposed to be living with a man named Roby some time ago. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 516.)

Wellington.— 23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Bernard Kromen, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 7in., seaman and labourer, native of Russia, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, first joint of right middle finger missing, anchor on left arm. He came to Wellington as a special constable during the recent “ strike ” from Takapau, Hawke’s Bay. Thomas Frederick Everest, at present awaiting trial on a charge of breaking, entering, and theft from George Reid’s house in Webb Street, used Sabin’s name when disposing of the stolen property.
