Circular No. 12/13.] Police Department, Wellington, sth May, 1913. Unlawful Possession or Exportation of Imported or Native Game. All members of the Police Force are hereby directed to exercise their utmost diligence to ensure a complete observance of the provisions of the Animals Protection Acts respecting the unlawful possession or exportation of specimens (alive or dead) of imported or native game. Immediate confidential inquiry is to be made regarding a Mr. Douglas A. Sinclair, described as a professional orchidhunter, age thirty-three years, who allegedly lefc England in January last under commission by notable collectors of rare birds and animals to study the bird-life in New Zealand, and will probably endeavour to obtain a collection of our native game.
