PROPERTY STOLEN.

Newton. —25th ultimo, from the dwelling of ARCHIBALD PARVIN, artist, Picton Street, a ladies’ black Moroccoleather handbag, spots of brown paint on it, containing two small black-leather purses ; a blue-plush ring-case; a ladies’ gold dress ring, set with five opals ; a gentlemen’s goldmounted ribbon-guard, pin at back of shield in centre of guard broken ; a greenstone heart, “ RiaOra ” in gold letters thereon, gold ring attached to heart, much worn ; a silver penoil case ; a number of American and foreign coins ; three sovereigns, and 15s. in silver ; a ladies’ white handkerchief, with black flowers around the edges : a pair of ladies’ greycotton gloves ; a number of receipts and newspaper cutting ; two return halves railway tickets, Napier to Hastings: total value £lO 7s. 6d. Identifiable, except money.

Remuera. —21st or 22nd ultimo, from a section of land, the property of WILLIAM BARRY, builder, a pony gig, painted black with yellow lines, two steps on right side and one on left, top of left shaft broken and covered with leather, a band on right shaft where it has been sprung; value, about £lO. Identifiable.

Paeroa. LYLE SCOTCHER, Montrose House, a cheque on the National Bank, Thames, for £lO, drawn by G. Scotcher in favour of Lyle Scotcher, No. 44298. Suspicion attached to a Man, name unknown, age about forty, height 5 ft. 7 in., stout build, fair clipped moustache turning grey, several days’ growth of beard ; dressed in a dark serge coat and grey pants, hard black hat, smart appearance. He left Te Arolia House, Te Aroha, on the 25th ultimo without paying his board, and represented he was a commercial traveller. He stopped at Montrose House on the 26th ultimo, and was seen coming out of Scotcher’s bedroom. A boarder named SAMUEL MARSHALL had a half-sovereign stolen from his clothes, and CHARLES MAYES £2 15s. on the same night as the cheque was stolen from L. Scotoher.

Hamilton. SMITH, land agent, while under the influence of drink, a gentlemen’s open-faced gold watch, plain back, “Victor Emanuel Smith” engraved on inside of back case; value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to William Dugley, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and sailor, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, profusely tattooed on both hands and on arm, crucifix on

chest; dressed in navy-blue suit, tan boots, and grey cap (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 594.)

Napier. 22nd or 23rd ultimo, from Tennyson Street, the property of RICHARD WILLIAM DALGLEISH, commission agent, a gentlemen’s Rudge - Whitworth blackenamelled bicycle, 24 in. frame, up-turned handles, celluloid mud-guards, Eadie coaster back-pedalling brake, “ Stevens and Son” transfer in red and gold stamped on front bar; value, £5. Identifiable.

Palmerston North.— 27th or 28th ultimo, the shop of ARCHIBALD OSBORNE was broken into, and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s new blue suit, trousers of a brighter blue than the coat and vest, “A. R. Osborne, Poxton, N.Z.,” on trousers buttons, and on tab of coat; a pair of dark-tweed trousers with green stripes, clothes would fit a man about 5 ft. 7 in. high; also a new green slouch felt hat: total value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Reefton. —Between the 9th and 11th ultimo, from a shed at Bourke’s Creek, the property of ALFRED DUNCAN, carpenter, an adze with a square head branded “ A. D.” on handle near the eye of adze; a crosscut saw; an axe with the end of handle cut off, iron wedge in head of axe, a double-ended coal-miners’ pick : value, £1 3s. Identifiable.

Hokitika. —Between the 16th and 20th ultimo, between Wellington and Hokitika, the property of WILLIAM JOHN PRITCHARD, draper, eight ladies’ black - leather bags, about 7 in. by 6 in., nickel mounted, had an inside pocket in each, and contained a small purse about 3 in. long in each, one bag numbered 8/142/16, four numbered 4775, one numbered 8/122/16, and one numbered 6/275/2, and one black velvet bag ; total value, £3 4s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —l2th ultimo, from the stand of the postoffice, the property of H. HUNTER, a gentlemen’s Kingston Standard bicycle, Nos. 91 and 9360, steel rims and pedals, wide handles, free wheel, front-rim brake, red continental tires ; value, £5 ss. Identifiable.

Christchurch. 2nd ultimo, from the premises of T. HARKER, journalist, a gentlemen’s Velox bicycle, No. 8920, steel rims and pedals, upturned handles, two Bowden brakes ; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —10th October last, from Sydenham Park, the property of E. SLOANE, a gentlemen’s Bell bicycle, No. 26688, steel rims, rubber pedals, reversible handles, no grips, fixed wheel, Oceanic tires; value, £9. Identifiable.
