Auckland. —sth ultimo, from Symond Street, the property of ERIC OWEN PEARCE, a dark-brown pedigreed roughhaired Irish-terrier dog, six months old, ears close together over eyes, no collar ; value, £2O. Identifiable.

Auckland. —ALFßED HARFORD’S pin stolen: The suspect, Samuel Hugh Strain, has been interviewed by the Timaru police, and stated that he received the pin from a man in a hotel, and afterwards gave it to a man, name unknown. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 501.)

Rangiora.—2sth ultimo, from the Rangiora Show-grounds, the property of JAMES PEARCE, farmer, a grey-and-black-striped plaid-tweed trap-rug, large size, English make; value, £2. Identifiable.

Coalgate.— l2th ultimo, from Hororata, the property of FRANCIS ARCHER, clerk, a gentlemen’s 24 in. blackenamelled bicycle, rusty steel rims, slightly curved handles, front-rim brake, new tires on wheels, rat-trap pedals, a oyclometre on front wheel (Seth and Thomas on dial); has a three-speed Armstrong gear. The part controlling speed is fixed to top bar and branded “ Armstrong.” Supposed made in Coventry ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Kurow. — 3rd ultimo, from JOHN HARRIS, labourer, Hakataramea, a silver hunting Rotherham watch, No. 309168; a 9 ct. double gold chain, fetter-link pattern, similar to No. 20 in Police Gazette illustrations ; a gold compass and square inside a circle attached to chain ; value, £l2. Identifiable. The watch and chain were stolen by W. McAuley, who was arrested and sentenced to nine months for the offence. He sold the watch to F. Garland , who, although informed that it was stolen, signified his intention of disposing of it. Garland is described as about thirty years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, bottle-gatherer, slight build, clean-shaved, dark hair; speaks with a cockney accent; wears a blue suit and cap. He was last heard of in Dunedin in company with two bottle-gatherers named Brennan and Ray.
