PROPERTY STOLEN.
Auckland. GEORGE LEE was broken into, and the following stolen : A Waterbury watch, well worn and out of repair ; an openfaced metal stop-watch, number and maker unknown ; a key-winder watch, out of repair ; a silver curb chain, clasp and bar missing ; a silver chain, with alternate long and twisted links ; value, about £1 10s. Identifiable.
Auckland. —6th September last, the property of JAMES THOMAS WILLIAMS, carter, a gentlemen’s “ Special ” brand free-wheel bicycle, No. 7223, black-enamelled frame, back-pedal brake only, rat-trap pedals with leather toe-straps, bell and pump attached; value, £lO. Identifiable. The bicycle was left in the street for a few minutes and disappeared.
Auckland. —2nd September last, from LEO MARCANTELLI, storeman, a gentlemen’s gold filled hunting keyless Waltham watch, No. 12629433; value, £6 10s. Identifiable. While the complainant was competing in a test of strength in a hotel-bar he handed the watch to a Mem, name unknown, who went away with it. He is described as about thirty-five years of age, height about 5 ft. 7 in., supposed labourer, strong athletic build, fresh complexion, brownish hair ; dressed in light-coloured suit and black hard hat.
Gisborne. 29th ultimo, from JOHN KILMARTIN, labourer, Matawai, seven £5 notes, four of them on the Bank of New Zealand, Nos. 793728, 793573, 731169, and 793563. Suspicion attached to William Osborne, age fifty, height sft. 6 in., storeman, native of England, stout build; is a suspected sly-grog seller. The complainant lost the money while in a drunken sleep at the suspect’s camp.
Palmerston North. —29th October last, from outside the Opera House, the property of ALEXANDER McDONALD, farmer, a girl’s small black-enamelled bicycle, No. 9126, front-rim brake repaired with wire ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —9th ultimo, from the Riccarton Racecourse, the property of ROBERT PUGH, a gentlemen’s Carbine bicycle, No. 147, B.S.A. parts, steel rims and pedals, wiae upturned handles, fixed wheel ; value, £l2. Identifiable.
Christchurch. Cashel Street, the property of O. S. Pennicuick, a gentlemen’s B.S.A. bicycle, No. 18681, free wheel, steel rims, back pedal brake, Ideal tire ; value, £l2. Identifiable.
Sydenham. —The watches stolen from CHARLES JOHNSTON’S window are now described as a gentlemen’s open-faced keyless gun-metal English lever, jewelled in seven holes, outer case slightly rusty, value 12s. 6d.; a gentlemen’s rolled-gold keyless hunting-watch, No. 265881, value 7s. 6d. Cass. —2Bth or 29th ultimo, from the railway-line, the property of HERBERT DELL, carter, a heavy light-bay draught gelding, aged, hollow-backed, white blaze on forehead, two white hind feet; value, £25. Identifiable.
