Queen Street Whare (Auckland). —Between the 18th and 25th ultimo, from the hold of the “Maheno,” between Sydney and Auckland, the property of GEORGE GROOM, school-teacher, a ladies’ long smoke-coloured cloth coat, trimmed with a large quantity of black braid, white turnedin reefers at neck, value £2 10s. ; a ladies’ yellow Japanese fox-fur with two natural heads and tails, one tail worn and moth-eaten, lining out of repair, value £3 10s. ; a gentlemen’s heavy overcoat (known as a blanket coat), dark-grey colour, with a faint green stripe running through it, greystriped lining, belt attached ; value, £4 10s. Identifiable.
Takapuna. —4th instant, the dwelling of T. B. LEWIS, Takapuna, was broken into, and the following stolen: A ladies’ bracelet set three large opals and pearls, a very uncommon design, “ Presented to Mrs. T. B. Lewis by the Building and Contractors’ Exchange, Melbourne, 1899,” engraved on the inside, chain broken, value £10; an American dollar brooch, gilded with gold; a gold spray brooch, set with emerald in centre, value £3 ; a round silver mirror, embossed back, value 12s. 6d.; a ladies’ open-faced nickel Waterbury watch in leather wristlet, a small nickel band on inside of wristlet, value about £l. Identifiable.
Newton. —18th or 19th ultimo, from the bedroom of MURIEL SLYE, Burgoyne Street, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress ring, set with three rubies and two diamonds, bridge setting, No. 250 k, anchor and crown on inside of the ring ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. —7th instant, from the bedroom of PERCY JACKSON, schoolmaster, fourteen £1 notes on the Bank of New Zealand; two threepenny pieces (very black); papers and letters with “ P. G. Jackson,” thereon; a double 15 ct. gold watch-chain similar to No. 29 in Police Gazette Illustrations, gold cross attached, inscribed “ P. G. Jackson from B. Wyeth”; a plain silver sovereign-case; a pocket-knife with three blades; a siik handkerchief with “ J.” thereon ; and a dark-tweed suit of clothes with a white stripe running through it : totU value, £22 10s. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. Phoenix Hotel, Palmerston North, the property of DENIS O’KEEFE, labourer, a gentlemen’s Centaur bicycle, No. 208, steel mud-guards, upturned handle-bars, no brakes, fixed wheel; value, £4. Identifiable.
Palmerston North.— 23rd ultimo, from the Square, Palmerston North, a gentlemen’s free-wheel Red Bird bicycle, No. 172142, hub brake, leather grips, wooden mud-guards.; value, £9. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. —21st ultimo, from outside Watson Bros.’ shop, the property of JOSEPH KROUPA, a gentlemen’s free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, No. 70171, straight handles, new front wheel with Oceanic cover, steel mud-guards ; value £7. Identifiable.
Foxton.— 3oth ultimo, from the property of ALBERT JOHN GIBBS, a gentlemen’s Brantford redenamelled bioycle, 24 in. frame, new Dunlop tires, upturned handles, leather grips ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Masterton. —sth or 6th instant, Macara’s sample-rooms, William Street, were broken into, and the following goods, the property of ABBOTT, ORAM, AND CO., stolen : Two dozen fancy socks, value £1 14s. ; three white Japanese-silk shirts, without collars, sizes 15, 15£, and 16, value £1 10s. ; four fancy bow ties ; two sets military brushes in tanleather cases, value 18s. ; a ladies’ grey Japanese dressinggown, fancy embroidery, value £1 Is.; four ladies’ fancy fringe bags, about 6 in. to 8 in. square, value £1; a blue bag, with gold fittings, value 10s. Identifiable.
Murchison. Between the 27th August last and 27th ultimo, from a portmanteau, between Oamaru and Murchison, the property of the REV. JOHN COMMON, a new darkooloured sac worsted suit, “ J. H. Milligan and Co., Tailors, Oamaru,” on tab, maker’s name also on the trouser-buttons, value £5; a pair of bluish-grey sergerette trousers, cross-cut pockets, “Stevenson and Grant” on buttons, value 10s.; two pairs of woollen under-pants, with “J. Common” thereon, value 135.; a pair of pyjama pants, with purple stripe, value 4s. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —Between the 7th and 14th ultimo, from the Drill-shed, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT, an oil-stone, two 9 in. squares, two foldingrules, a smoothing-plane, a carpenter’s punch, a carpenter’s brace, sixteen bits, six chisels, two cold-chisels, a screwdriver, two gimlets, and eight bradawls; total value, £3. Identifiable. The cold-chisels and punch are marked with a broad arrow, and the woodwork of the other tools have “ C. E. V.” on them.
Christchurch. —Between 20th August last and 7th instant, from the hut of ROBERT KENNETT, watchmaker, a pair of black-coloured telescopic adjustable binoculars, old-fashioned make, leather strap attached, value £7 10s.; a leather belt with sheath and knife, value 15s. Identifiable.
Lyttelton. —Between the 21st and 23rd ultimo, on the s.s. “ Mararoa ” or in the Customs shed, the property of CHARLES JOHN BADHAM, Christchurch, a ladies’ 9ct. gold keyless watch with gold hands, enclosed by a 9 ct. gold-plated wristlet; value, £3 15s. Identifiable.
Pleasant Point. —2sth ultimo, from the Pleasant Point Hotel Stables, the property of FRED WESTOBY, a gentlemen’s Massey-Harris bicycle, enamel scraped off the front forks, a Massey-Harris wheel on the front, and a B.S.A. wheel on the back, parcel-carrier behind ; value, £5. Identiable.
