PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.— lsth instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness, James King, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes. He was employed at the draining-works, Otahuhu, about 15th January last.

Auckland.—27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of pax ing £2 10s. fme and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, John Withers, ege thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 6 in., fireman, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, flag and clasped hands tat'ooed on left arm, star between left thumb and finger. He is said to have shipped on board the s.s. “ Aorangi ” for San Francisco.

Auckland. —l9th December last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paxing £6 14s. fine and costs for trespassing on the Elierslie Racecourse, John Ferguson Lovelock, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 10in., guesser and wharf labourer, native of Victoria, strong build, broad shoulders, fresh complexion, clean-shaved, brown hair, blue eyes, has small soar on nose,-walks slowly; usually wears a blue or brown suit, with hard hat or cap.

Auckland. —Bth insfaut, on warrants for assaulting William Montgomery in the bar of ihe Occidental Hotel, Auckland, Lionel Nolan, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., guesser, native of New Zealand, clean-shaved, f>esh complexion, dark ha>r, medium build. Robert Miller, alias Neil, age twenty-four, height sft. 2Jin., guesser, native of New Zealand, clean-shaved, fair complexion, medium build, fair hair. Findlay, alias The Kid, age about twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., guesser, slight build, clean-shaved, fair complexion ; dresses well. Atkinson, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., guesser, clean suaved, dark comnlxon, medium build, may be identical with Edward James Atkinson. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 439.) A fifth man also assaulted complainant, but no description of him can be obtained.

Mount Eden (Auckland).— 23rd February last, on war< rant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £5 12s. arrears due for the maintenance of his wife, Mary Matilda Green, Robert David Green, alias David Green, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. in., sugar-boiler, native of New Zealand, fair complexion and hair, grey eyes, large nose, clean-shaved. Gisborne. —29th January last, that a summons may be served on him for being illegally on premises, Edward Bowler, age thirtv, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, daik-brown hair, brown moustache ; dressed in blue or black suit. Ha left Gisborne about the 2nd ultimo, and no trace of him can now be found(See Police Gazette, 1911, pages 241 and 302.) - -

Ohakune.— 3rd ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, James Marshall, name probably fictitious, age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, dark hair, sallow tanned complexion, clean-shaved, round face, rather large mouth, medium build, slow deliberate s'yle of speaking ; supposed dressed in dark suit and soft felt. hat., On above date offender induced EttrPk Christie, clothier, to cash a cheque, No. A 836281, on the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, for £4 125., purporting to be signed by James Marshall, payable to D. Powell. Offender was t accompanied by a man named William Oldham, whose description resembles that of E. Williams, wanted fora.; similar offence. The cheque was out of the bock by E. Williams at Auckland. (See Police Gazette, 191.2, . page 87.)

Otaki.— -About January last, on wa>i?i?ant to appear at the Magistrate’s Court to show cause why an affiliation order should not be made against him for the future support of the unborn child of Rose Barnes, Charles Adams, age nineteen (looks older), height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and eirous band, native of New Zealand, medium build, slightly stooped, dark complexion, clean-shaved, long nose, large mouth, dark hair; larrikin appearance; fond of drink; generally wears a grey suit and hard black-felt hat worn at the back of his bead; generally wears leggings. He was last heard of at Waverley on the sth instant with Barton’s Circus.

Wellington. —lst instant, for escaping from the Mental Hospital, Porirua, David Hartwell, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair, sharp features; dressed in grey moleskin suit. He was committed from Palmerston North on the 28th October, 1911.

Wellington.-— l2th instant, on warrant of deserting from the s.s. “Somerset,” D. Dieters or F. Deters, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., fireman, native of Germany, thick-set build, dark complexion, dark moustache, brown hair and eyes, bow-legged, anchor and key tattooed on left forearm, speaks very imperfect English. A reward of £2 will be paid for his apprehension.

Wellington. - sth November last, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate onild, Sydney Russell, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. lin., jockey, native of Tasmania, slight build, canned complexion, black hair, clean-shaved ; usually wears brown or navy-blue suic and hard black hat, Complainant, Norah Elizabeth Jane Quartermain.

Wellington. — 15th January last, on warrant for disobejing an irder of Court' to pay 7s. 6d. a week for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Jeremiah Stanislaw Pope, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 in., biaeksmicn, nacive of New Zealand, 1 fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes; dressed in dark suic and cap. He is supposed to have gone to the Pelorus Sounds. On the above date he was in arrears £ll 15s.

Wellington.— l3th instant, on warrants for being abseno from the s.s. “ Turakina ” wichouc leave, and refusing to obey the lawful commands of the second steward, F. Foster, Frederick George Smith, age twenty-eigut, height sft. s£in., steward, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes. A reward of £2 is offered for his apprehension.

Wellington.— 4th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Rocorua,” Thomas Winkle, age twentyfour, heighc 5 ft. 8 in., fireman, native of New Zealand, brown hair and eyes, dark complexion, a half-caste Chinese or Japanese, good boxer and athlete. He is supposed to be identical with Thomas Merlin, alias Wing Kee. (See Police Gazette, 1910, pages 226 and 315.) A reward of £2 will be paid for his apprehension.

Christchurch.— l7th ultimo, for forgery and uttering, S. Martin, age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved ; dark suit and cap. Identification doub ful. He is believed to be identical wit.h C. Baker, wanted for forgery. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 132.) On the above date offender gave Walcer Edward Mundy, draper, Colombo Street, a cheque for £5 145., purporting to be signed by Walter Buler, contractor, Sydney, and drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Cnristchuren. When presented at the Bank it was declared a forgery. The cheque is out of a book sold by the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, to some person unknown.

Timaru.— l4th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his two illegitimate children, Dennis Denihan, age about thirty-two, height about 6 ft., groom and storeman, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, light-blue eyes, deanshaved or may be wearing a sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache. Complainant and offender were living together at man and wife until September, 1911, when offender left, saying he was going to Balelutha, wnere he had a farm, and has not been heard of since.
