Sydney. —Stolen 2nd instant, from an upstairs bedroom at the residence of Edward James Cook, “ Burrator,” Oranbrook Road, Woollahra, Sydney, a pearl and platinum necklet, with a single 4 ct. flawless yellow diamond, oblong shape, particularly brilliant, set in platinum as pendant; a small coral necklet; a pair of coral ear-rings ; a pearl scarf-pin, set with a perfect round white lustrous pearl weighing 6gr.; a gold scarf-pin, set with a pear-shaped white pearl weighing 4gr., cup setting; a gold safety-pin brooch, set with a white pearl, perfectly round, weighing 4f gr. : value in all about £3OO. Identifiable. Entrance supposed effected by climbing balcony-post. (C.R. 11/245.)
Sydney (New South Wales). — George Michael, wifedesertion, has been arrested by the Sydney police. He was subsequently sentenced to four years’ penal servitude for bigamy. It has been ascertained that he is not identical with George Michael, alias Jarburji Harji, referred to in Police Gazette, 1898, page 213, and 1899, pages 97 and 121. This notification is inserted in substitution of that in Police Gazette, 1911, page 569. (See Police Gazette, 1911, pages 324, 336, and 569.) (P. 11/1344, and C.R. 11/269.)
Kalgoorlie (Western Australia). —A Bench warrant has been issued by Judge Ruth for the arrest of William John Leahy for failing to answer to his bail at the Kalgoorlie Circuit Court on a charge of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, native of Victoria, age twenty-four, bank accountant, single, height 5 ft. 5 in., thin stooping build, long black straight hair, black eyebrows, fairly high straight forehead, brown eyes, small straight nose, close mouth, thin lips, pointed chin, small ears close to head, thin face, olean-shaved, quiet-spoken ; somewhat addicted to drink; keeps late hours; mixes amongst the sporting class and clerks; dresses in a brown suit, sometimes flannel trousers, often no vest, leather belt, boater straw hat. Dated at Kalgoorlie, 22nd November, 1911. Arrest desired. (See Western Australia Police Gazette 1911, page 355.)
England. Booth, age fifty-nine, described as tall, fair complexion, labourer, native of Leicester, England, a widower. His sister, residing at Maungakaramea, Whangarei, Auckland District, heard from him about two years ago. He was then in the south end of the North Island. Inquiry by his sister, Annie Booth, 24 Evington Street, Leicester, England. (11/2435.)
England. —lnquiry is requested to ascertain the whereabouts of Eliza Jane Gann, age about thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 3 in., dressmaker, native of Corwen, North Wales, slight build, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, Roman nose, sallow complexion. She left London on the 12th November, 1909, for Auckland by the R.M.S. “Corinthic,” and arrived in Wellington on the 20th December, 1909, but no trace can be obtained of her after she arrived.
