PERSONS WANTED.

♦ Auckland. —15th March last, that she may be compelled to maintain her son, Joseph Nelson, an inmate of an industrial school, Kate Ross, age forty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., charwoman, half-caste Negress. She was last heard of at Gisborne. Inquiry by the Education Department.

Auckland. —20th May last, on warrant for being an absconding debtor under the Bankruptcy Act, John Tipper, age about thirty-five, height about sft. Bin., engineer and motor expert, supposed native of America, well built, fresh complexion, dark curly hair, blue eyes, dark-brown moustache, good appearance; generally dressed in dark-brown suit and black hard hat. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s office, Auckland. Offender is known to have received £360 immediately before his disappearance, and he may be heard of at Wellington or Christchurch.

Waipibo Bay.— 3lst March last, that a witness summons may be served on him, George James Grey, age

about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair and moustache, blue eyes, tattooed on both arms ; fond of drink ; generally dressed in grey or light-brown suit and felt hat. On or about Bth ultimo he was employed as a carter on the Auckland Wharf. He may be found associating with Maoris. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 273.)

Napier. —l4th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 19s. costs for theft, Ned, alias Charles, alias Edward Francis Hedley, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and groom, native of New Zealand, clean-shaved, very fair sandy-coloured hair ; dressed in brownish-coloured suit and wide-rimmed brown-felt hat; has the appearance of a jockey or horse-trainer. Wanganui, 4th instant, on warrant for assaulting Joseph Charles Vincent, carrier, Waitotara, so as to oause him actual bodily harm, John Gunn, alias Dunn, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and racecourse guesser, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, round face, clean-shaved, boyish appearance ; dressed in brownish-coloured suit and cap.

Palmerston North. — Robert Smith, aims Anderson, alias Dalziell, wanted on warrant for false pretenoes on John Hurley : It has been ascertained that offender is not identical with Robert Barker, whose apprehension is notified in Police Gazette, 1911, pages 286 and 302. Wellington. —4th instant, on warrant for deserting the s.s. “Tongariro,” C, J. Walton, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., A. 8., native of England, stout build, fair com plexion, dark-brown hair.

Wellington.— 4th instant, on warrant for deserting the s.s. “ Tongariro,” John Bright, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6Jin., seaman, native of England, dark complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, two daggers, heart, crown, “ R. N.,” cross, anchor, and three stars on right forearm, sailor with flag, two flags, and anchor on left forearm, flag on right hand. (See Police Gazette , 1911, page 127.)

Picton. —29th April last, that a notice of fine and costs (£4 10s. 6d.) for wilful damage may be served on him, James Reddick, age thirty-five, height 6 ft. 2 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, heavy dark moustache ; generally dressed in dark-blue suit and black bard hat. He is well known as the owner of the racehorse Ireni, and may seek employment at Puke Puke or Napier Freezing-works.

Blenheim. —6th instant, on warrant for obscene language, James Sands, age about twenty - seven, height 5 ft. 8£ in., cook, native of Denmark, well built, broad shoulders, very fair complexion and hair, large prominent nose, very slight fair moustache only, pleasant appearance, female bust, sailor and woman, and heart and arrow tattooed on arms, ring tattooed on one finger; well dressed in light-coloured suit and hard hat. He failed to answer to a summons, and may be heard of at Wellington, where he will probably seek employment on a ship. A oharge of false pretences is also pending against him.

Westport. —26th ultimo, on warrant for absconding from bail, Stanley Ross, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 11 in., spieler, native of New Zealand, active build, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, brown moustache only ; generally dressed in light-brown suit and hard hat. He was awaiting trial for indecently assaulting Jean Meikle, and was admitted to bail on the recognizance of Mr. J. R. Lundon, solicitor, Auckland, for £IOO, but failed to appear at the Supreme Court when called upon to answer to the indiotment.

Kumara.— 7th May last, on warrant of commitment to Hokitika Police Gaol for one month in default of paying £5 3s. fine and costs for wilful damage, Timothy O’Grady, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion and hair, cleanshaved ; fond of drink ; generally dressed in old darkcoloured coat and trousers (no vest), black-silk neckerchief, and grey cap.

Christchurch. —lßth ultimo, on warrant for theft of £2 from Donald George McKinley, baker, Riccarton, Sidney Humphries, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair; dressed in brown knicker suit and cap.

Christchurch. — E. Davis wanted on warrant for theft of William Dobb’s bicycle : It has been ascertained by Acting-Detectives Osborn and Snow, Christchurch police, that offender is identical with Frank Peterson, or Petersen, alias Parker, alias Fitzjohn, alias Fritzjohn, referred to in Police Gazette, 1910, page 358, and Photographs of Prisoners Discharged, 1910, page 42. Other charges pending.

Dunedin.— 29th May last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Julius McQuaid, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 74in., cab-driver, native of Victoria, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes; generally dressed in dark-tweed suit and black hard hat.
