Auckland.— -About 7th instant, from the bedroom of EDGAR WILLIAM JENNINGS, Star Hotel, a gentlemen’s 18 et. gold open-face English chronometer stopwatch, No. 52272, “ Fridlander, No. 55 Great Queen Street, London,” on works ; value, £45. Identifiable.
Taumabunui. —13th instant, from the camp of WALTER BOARD, Otunui, a double-barrelled hammerless breechloading W. W. Greenes gun, left side of stock pared to fit cheek, and polished ; value, £3O. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Garter (probably fictitious), age between twenty-five and thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, strong build, dark hair and eyes ; dressed in riding pants and leggings. Suspect went North on 14th instant, and was carrying a gun and portmanteau.
Taihape. —Between 28th ultimo and 3rd instant, from the bedroom of JAMES CARTIER, horse-breaker, a darkbrown worsted coat and vest, a double-case silver watch, a nickel-plated curb-pattern double chain, a silver match-box, a silver medal with “ Best Youth Rider Jones’s Buckjumpers” on one side and “James Cartier” on other side, and several references; total value, £8 15s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Edward Hansen, alias Edtuard Jensen, (Pc., who is supposed to be identical with Edivard George Hansen, referred to in Police Gazette, 1910, page 101, age thirty, height 5 ft. 3 in., farm labourer, stout build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved. Wanganui. —29th ultimo, from the s.s. “ Waimari,” the property of THE POSTMASTER-GENERAL, a postal packet forwarded by Richard Coffey, settler, to Drews, watchmaker, and containing a silver hunting Rotherham watch, No. 303583, with “Richard Coffey” scratched on inside of case ; and a leather watch-case, with “ Richard Coffey ” written thereon ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Shannon. —lsth instant, the dwelling of ROBERT MILLER, WILLIAM MILLER, and JAMES MILLER was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : An old halt-hunting silver English lever watch, Roman figures on dial, and “W.M.” over “X.” scratched on inside of case ; an open-face silver English lever watch, No. 587727, Roman figures on dial ; a curb-pattern silver Albert chain ; and a black-leather pocket-book : total value, £3 10s. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. —About 6th instant, from the farm of JAMES WILLIAM DONALD, Bunnythorpe, a doublebarrelled 12-caiibre centre-fire top-action Schofield breechloading gun, two dent' near muzzle of left barrel ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Foxton. —19th instant, from the railway-station, the property of THE POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT, a gentlemen’s black-enamel:ed 24-in.-frame Taura bicycle, No. 148. front fork painted red, straight; handles, rubber pedals; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.
Greymouth. —loth instant, from the s.s. 11 Waverley,” the property of JOHN KIDSON, boatswain, a gentlemen’s silver open-face much-worn English lever watch, No. 16550, “John Kidson” scratched on inside of case; value, £6. Identifiable.
Christchurch.— lst instant, from the Police-station, Hereford Street, the property of J. WHITE, shop-assistant, Rakaia, a gentlemen’s Royal London bicycle, No. 1603, 24 in. frame, enamelled black with red and yellow lines, free wheel, plated rims ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —llth ultimo, from the premises of Woods and Co., Hereford Street, the property of ERNEST MARSHALL SMITH, clerk, a gentlemen's Bell bicycle, No. 2796, 22 in. frame, free wheel, back-rim brake, steel rim and pedals, Dunlop road-racing tires ; value, £lB. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —3rd instant, from outside Digby’s Commercial School, Triangle, the property of M. DIGBY, 269 Kilmore Street, a ladies’ Khaki bicycle, No. 81, upturned handles, black and white grips, steel rims and mud-guards, rubber pedals, front-rim brake ; value, £5 10s. Identifiable.
