PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —16th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining a pair of boots, value £l, from James Adams, boot-importer, by false pretences, Eleanor E. Christian, alias Williams, age thirty-tbree, height 5 ft. 5 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark - brown hair, hazel eyes, upper teeth artificial, scar over left eye ; well dressed in green costume, straw bat with red flowers. (See Police Gazette , 1910, page 512.) She may be found living with a man named Williams. Her foster-parents reside at Hastings. Another charge pending.

Auckland.— l2th August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 7s. 6d. arrears due for the maintenance of his child in the Auckland Industrial School, Joseph Brady, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, large nose. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 269.)

Huntly. —3lst ultimo, on warrant for iorg ng a cheque for £l2 Bs., and uttering the same to William Ernest Swain,

William Black, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer and seaman, native of England, medium build, dark-brown hair inclined to curl, fresh complexion, grey eyes, clean - shaved, regular features, small scar on left cheek; dressed in dark - tweed sac suit and oap; rough appearance; fond of drink. Offender was employed by William Close, settler, Rauwaro, and stole three blank cheques out of his cheque-book, and forged the name of his employer, William Close, to the one uttered as above. Another charge pending.

Thames. —23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to the Thames Prison for three days in default of paying £1 fine and costs for hawking without a license, Richard Evans, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., supposed native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, moustache only; untidy appearance. The distress warrant issued against him has been cancelled, and the above warrant issued. (See Police Gazette, .1910, page 515.)

Napier. —6th instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his child in Wellington Receiving Home, Janies Wilson, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 2^in., waiter, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, soar on forehead and on back of left hand. Dannevirkb. —29th ultimo, that a warrant of distress may be executed on him for 15s. fine and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act, Thomas Aitken, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. Bfin., ex-hotelkeeper, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, grey eyes, cleanshaved, respectable appearance; generally wears grey-tweed suit and hard hat or cap. Hawera. —Bfch November last, on warrant of commitment to the New Plymouth Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 3s. fine and costs for obscene language, Joseph Halliday, age twenty - six, height sft. 9in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved except small dark moustache ; shabby appearance ; fond of drink.

Taihape. — John Carmody, wanted that a summons may be served on him, left Ngaruawahia on 17th ultimo by night train in company with Alexa- der Bishop, supposed for Frankton or Auckland. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 459.)

Palmerston North. —loth ultimo, on warrant for being in possession of a mould for making counterfeit coin, Mick Bitossi, age about twenty-four, height 5 ft. 4 in. or sin., plaster-model maker and labourer (hawks statutory), native of Italy, dark complexion, long black hair, black eyes, cleanshaved, aotive build ; wears dark suit and cap. A man named O’Loughlin was arrested with counterfeit coins in his possession, and a number of plaster-of-paris moulds. He stated that Bitossi, with whom he worked at Craw’s flax-mill, Linton, had given him the coins and moulds. Bitossi is supposed to have come to Wellington on the 10th ultimo.

Levin. —l2th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for oue month in default of paying £5 15s. fine and costs for playing two-up, John Thomas Kennedy, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 9Jin., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, long nose, cut above right eyebrow. Offender was employed delivering milk for complainant, and appropriated the above amount to his own use. Other charges pending.

Wellington. —loth instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Morere,” Thomas Curme, age twentynine, height 5 ft. 4 in., fireman, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, fair moustache, anchor tattooed on left arm, slightly bow-legged; dressed in dark-dungaree trousers, dark coat, and greenishbrown coloured hat.

Mount Cook (Wellington). —3rd ultimo, that a copy of minute of order may be served on him for the maintenance of his wife and child, James Stafford Adams, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., ex-hotelkeeper and carpenter, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, respectable appearance ; usually wears dark suit and bard black hat. He is owner of the racehorse Merrie Zealand, and follows up race-meetings. His brother, Lacey Adams, is proprietor of a hotel at Lyttelton.

Blenheim. —21st ultimo, on warrant for removing property of the value of £3O within two years of being declared a bankrupt, Edgar Charles Quartly, age about twentyfive, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., draper and music-seller, slight build, fair complexion, rather sharp features, pointed chin, olean-shaved ; generally wears light-grey tweed suit. He is a good elocutionist, and fond of reciting at concerts, &c. He was seen in Auckland about a month ago, and may be employed as a draper.

Nelson. —lßth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Nelson Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 13s. fine and costs for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, James Price, age fifty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, brown moustache.

Denniston. —10th instant, that a summons may be served on him for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, John Robson (known as Sailor Jack), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., miner and sailor, native of England, short stiff build, square jaws, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair and moustache, husky voice, sings comic songs ; fond of drink, and will be found about hotels.

Blackwater. served on him for being drunk and disorderly, Joseph Bradley, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 11 in., miner and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair, thin face, large nose, clean-shaved ; dressed in blue-dungaree trousers, blue coat, elastic-side boots, and cap.

Christchurch. —4th instant, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Rebecca McCabe, with adequate means of support, Patrick McCabe, alias Boylan, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 7in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, ruddy tanned complexion, black hair turning grey, scar on left side of head, hands very rough, walks slowly; is a heavy smoker; usually wears dark clothes.

Christchurch. sth instant, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Lucy O’Donnell, with adequate means of support, Joseph O’Donnell, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes, sandy moustache ; dressed in green-worsted sac suit and black hard hat; erect gait.

Christchurch.— 2nd instant, that she may be induced to contribute towards the support of her daughter, an inmate of the Receiving Home, Christchurch, Elizabeth McGowan, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 3 in., supposed native of New Zealand, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, sallow complexion, thin build, feeble mind, false teeth; she is supposed to have married a man named Richards, who is now said to be living in the Auckland Distriot.

Christchurch. — John William Clelland, wanted on warrant for assault, was seen in Sydney about a month ago, where he was trying to get a position on board a ship. Information supplied by Sergeant Miller, Christchurch police. (See Police Gazette , 1910, page 182.)

A warrant has also been issued for his detention in the Rotoroa Inebriates Homs for two years.

Timaru. —9th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Clan Grant,” P. Helon and P. Elfrerson. Descriptions: First, age thirty-six, height 6 ft., fireman, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, brown moustache. Second, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., fireman, native of Australia, medium build, dark curly hair, clean-shaved, fresh complexion.

Timaru. —26 h ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Afghanistan,” Thomas William Bell and Edwin Thomas Pearce. Descriptions : First, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 4in., ship’s steward, native of London, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, bluegrey eyes, small moustache, heart and “George” tattooed on right forearm, anchor and “Exmouth” on left arm. Second, age thirty-one, height sft. sin., cook, native of England, stoutish build, dark-brown eyes, grey hair, fair moustache, reddish bristly moustache; wears spectacles and bowler hat; slovenly appearance.

Timaru.— 3oth ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Afghanistan,” John McKellan, Frank Green, and Donald McPhee. Descriptions : First, age thirtytwo, height 5 ft. 9 in., seaman, native of Scotland, blue eyes, dark hair and complexion. Second, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in., native of England, blue eyes, sandy hair, fresh complexion. Dunedin.— -On or about 13th ultimo, on warrant for a breach of the Bankruptcy Act, Charles Hastings Bradley, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7in., sawmiller, native of Tasmania, sallow complexion, slight dark moustache, general insignificant appearance but good muscular development, a light-weight boxer, right eye blind, grey blotched appearance. He owes over £3OO to his employees at the mill, and is suposed to have left for Tasmania after drawing £6O from the licensee of Chick’s Hotel, which he was holding for him.

Dunedin. —30th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s Red Bird bicycle, value £5, James Brown (name supposed fictitious), age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., thin features, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in dark-grey suit and straw hat, was wearing a silver chain with two medals attached (one of them being gold-mounted). The abovedescribed man sold the bicycle for £1 to Mrs. Austin, a second-hand dealer.

Arrowtown. —28th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining £1 10s. from Joseph Polasehek by means of a valueless cheque, James Eastes, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in. or 9in., stout build, dark complexion and hair, cleanshaved except, dark-brown moustache ; dressed in stripedtweed suit ; has the appearance of drinking to access. He travels the country, selling bicycles.

Invercargill.— lsth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for six months for disobeying an order of the Court to pay 6s. a week for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Thomas Leonard, age forty-one,
