Auckland. — 22nd ultimo, for failing to obey the terms of his release under the First Offenders’ Probation Act, Sydney Lewis Jones, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., jeweller, native of England, fresh complexion, dark-grey hair, brown eyes, prominent nose, scar on back of right hand ; wears a peculiar greenstone and gold watch-guard, greenstone in 1 in. blocks and about £ in. thick ; speaks with a quiet Welsh accent, and is hard to understand ; is very excitable. He was convicted of theft at Auckland on the 23rd July, 1909, admitted to twelve months’ probation, and worked at his trade in Palmerston North until about the Ist December last, when he left, supposed for Sydney.

Offender was seen to the money from the till. The money was found in his tent.

Waitaba. —l4th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Hugh McAUunp, dmpenf age twentytwo, height ifemcfg r<rom r siifirbfii Id, fair hair and complexion ; dressed in darkish-tweed suit. He is said to be of weak intellect, any is supposed to be a son of Captain Albert Williams/ay of the s.s/1‘ Petoitoi.” Offender purchased goods to the valufrof £3 gave a valueless cheque for £lO on the Bank-©! New Zealand, New Plymouth. He is supposed to have come towards Wellington, and may be found about livery stables or sale-yards.

Wellington. William John Pine, wanted on warrant for having uncustomed goods : It has been ascertained by Detective Rawle, Mount Cook police, that offender is now in Sydney. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 360.)

Ashburton. —24th March last, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £2, the property of John Burgess, contractor, Thomas Cummings, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of England, slight erect build, sharp features, clear fresh complexion, clean-shaved except small bright-brown moustache; dressed in dark suit and black hard hat ; clerical appearance. He is a recent arrival in the country. He was employed by complainant, and received the oheque to pay to a storekeeper, but appropriated it to his own use. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 182.)

Dunedin. —13th ultimo, on* two warrants of commitment to Dunedin Prison for twenty-eight days in default of paying £5 15s. fines and* costs for obscene language and a breach of prohibition order,' Richard Miller, age about forty-five, height 5 Itl 5 if. or 6 in., shoemaker, medium build, dark complexion,/ dark hair, clean-shaved except moustache, large bi/th-mark on one cheek. He is accompanied by a woman,' supposed to be his wife, age forty-four, small slightjbuild, shabbily dressed. 6 Tnp D O Riverton. —19th ultimo, on/ warrant for disobeying an order of the Court to pay 15s. a week towards the support of his wife, William Henry Marshall, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 2 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair ourly hair inclined to be reddish, freckled face, well built, pleasant appearance.
