PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. from the barque “ Caracciolo,” Creole Amorethi, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., sailor, native of Italy, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes.

Auckland. —7th Ootober, 1908, on warrant for theft of a bioycle, the property of John Edward Murson, cycle agent, value £4, Robert W. Robson, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., supposed canvasser, native of England, medium build, fair hair and complexion, clean-shaved, supposed to have decayed teeth in front. He hired the bicycle on above date, and pledged it at Copeland’s pawnoffioe, Auckland, for £1 4s.

Eden Terrace. —16th instant, for exposing his person to Annie and Phillis Angrove, Khyber Pass Road, Auckland, Man, name unknown, age about fifty-five, height about sft. 10in., slim build, greybeard cut short to a point at chin; wearing greyish suit and cap; dirty, vagrant appearance. Identifiable. No warrant.

Napier. —l9th instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, an inmate

of the Wellington Receiving Home, Richard McLelland, age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, erect gait. Was last heard of about four years ago at Greenmeadows.

Pahiatua. —10th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, G. Storey, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and sailor, native of England, medium build, dark hair and complexion, dark moustache only ; dressed in dark-tweed suit and probably hard black hat. He is known amongst his mates as Geordie. On above date offender purchased clothing, &c., to the value of £lO 75., from J. H. Powell, storekeeper, Makuri, and tendered an order on Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Wellington, for £ls for wages, purporting to be signed by J. Murray, and payable to G. Storey. Offender indorsed the order, and said be had been working for J. Murray. Complainant cashed the order, and gave offender £4 13s. change. Offender is accompanied by a man named Riley, who is also a seafaring man.

Palmerston North. —l6th instant, that he may be compelled to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his three children, inmates of the Wellington Receiving Home, Harry Fletcher Hargreaves, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 4Jin., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, small fair moustache only, little finger of right hand missing. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 241.) Arrears due to 25th July last, £IOO.

Masterton. —lsth instant, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the support of his illegitimate child, Henry Kilmister, age twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 6J in., marine engineer, native of New Zealand, medium build, very dark complexion, clean-shaved, dimple on chin, scar on right shoulder; generally dressed in dark clothes. He was an engineer on s.s. “ Oorinthio.” His parents reside at Taratahi, near Carterton. Complainant, Vera Tancred.

Wellington. —loth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife and child, Henry Arthur Hoult, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., draper’s assistant, native of New Zealand, slim build, active appearance, pale face, prominent blue eyes, fair moustache only, light-brown hair; generally wears a light-tweed sac suit and tweed-plaid cap. Wellington. —lsth July last, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the maintenance of his two children in the Wellington Receiving Home, Bert Harry Howden Caulton, alias Albert Turner, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 7 in., printer and labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, medium nose. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 318.) Arrears due to 31st ultimo, £lB.

Christchurch. —7th instant, on warrant for theft from the dwelling of Thomas Geoghegan, Fitzgerald Avenue, of a suit of cloches, valus £4 55., H. Lamb (name supposed fictitious), age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of England, thin build, dark complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved ; shabby appearance; dressed in dark clothes and cap. Offender sold the clothes at Torpy’s second-hand shop for 12s.

Sydenham.— 2oth July last, that proceedings may be taken against him for disobeying an order for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Thomas O’Malley, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of’ New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, clean-shaved, has two false upper front teeth.

Timaru. —31st ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Timaru Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. 6d. costs for helpless drunkenness, James Moore Smith, age sixty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., blacksmith, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, scar over left eye ; fond of drink. He will very likely be found hanging about hotels.

Dunedin. —26th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 arrears due on maintenance order for the support of his mother, Vincent Pobar, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4§ in., hawker of shoddy cloth, and umbrella-mender, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, short nose. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 457.)

Dunedin. —27th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, John William Chadwick, age thirty, height 5 ft. Ilf in., cordial-manufacturer, fresh complexion, grey hair, hazel eyes (photographed at Lyttelton, 2/12/08) ; dressed in dark-tweed overcoat, dark trousers, black hard hat; carrying brief-bag marked “V/- ” in ink under thumbflap. Offender purchased a pair of boots, size 10, from Robert Collier, bootmaker, and presented a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin, for £5, in favour of R. Wilson, purporting to be signed by Thompson and Co., and received £4 4s. 6d. change. No. “105” over “Y” inside the upper of boots. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 544, and 1909, pages 378 and 386.)
